"We look at each other like we're about to kiss."
___The days turned to weeks which turned to months. Before anyone knew it, they were halfway through the year, July having just begun.
The sun shone brightly outside, undisturbed by clouds-- much to everyone's annoyance. Tempers around the compound were shorter than usual due to the contast heat beating down upon them.
It was around midday which meant Natara would be outside training with Wanda. The two had only gotten closer since the assassin had returned from Thailand, though the blonde had received icy silence from the Sokovian the first week she'd been back.
Steve had just been glad to have his two favourite ladies back at the compound. It took no time at all for things to get back to the way they were. The only thing different was Nat and Tara's relationship, something that all of the team took a notice of.
The two moved in sync, each of their movements and actions seeming to bounce off the other without even them realizing. It was noticeable, the way each of the womens' eyes would go to the other after making a joke or hearing something funny. As if the both of them were forever engaged in their own silent world and yearned to constantly know how the other one was.
They were like magents-- Nat moved, Natara moved. And vice versa. It was intense. And the way they watched the other-- as if constantly ready to leap in front of them at the slightest hint of danger. No one knew what to make of it and could only stare in hope and awe, knowing they'd be so lucky to ever get something like that with someone.
Steve often tried to find ways to describe their dynamic but nothing ever stuck. Though one he kept coming back to was that they were each like the other's personal sun, the thing they each orbited around. And like the sun Natasha just had to be close enough and all the coldness and sharpness Natara displayed melted away. And it worked the other way too.
All Natara would need to do was be near enough and that constant frown Natasha wore smoothened out as if it'd never been there to begin with.
Steve always knew when one of them entered the room-- without even needing to use his enhanced senses. He'd know by the way either Nat or Natara straightened ever so slightly and the way their green eyes would light up instantly, as if a flame had been lit inside of them. The funniest part was that neither of the two women-- both of which were the smartest he'd ever known-- were aware of any of it.
He walked outside casually, his clothing thin in an attempt to cool himself down. Steve headed right for Natasha who wore a sports bra and a pair of tights, hair braided and falling down her back. He could see from here that her arms were crossed.
The sun made his hair shine and he stopped beside the redhead. A pathetic breeze tried and failed to do anything against the sweat already forming on his skin. Natasha didn't look away from what held her attention, she didn't even acknowledge Steve's appearance at her side. Her eyes followed each of Natara's movements, occasionally lingering at her exposed legs and arms. The assassin's body was covered in sweat as her and Wanda went through training excercise after training excercise.
The redhead's own body would occasionally react slightly when one of Wanda's attacks would land too close, seeing a red ball of magic narrowly miss Natara-- who looked far too human and fragile against the scarlet energy. But Nat never made a move to join them.
"Thought I'd let you know Tony's on his way here. You look like you're having fun."
Natasha's lip twitched in response and she finally turned away from the scene in front of her. "Wanda's getting better."
