It took a long time for Naoko and Dabi to get home after all that went down.

Perhaps that was to be expected, the Yakuza had declared war and neither Naoko nor Dabi felt comfortable using public transit right now, but even with all that, it took several hours more than it should have to make their way across the city as they stuck to the back alleys and abandoned streets.

Why did it take them so long, you may ask?

Well, to put it simply, Naoko and Dabi were a frighteningly efficient duo when they wanted to be, but absolutely useless any other time.

Naoko full on faceplanted into a wall in her daze and just stood there staring at it for a minute before she registered what happened and Dabi wasn't much better.

Granted, he was on the phone with Hasame getting his ass chewed out, but he absolutely rolled his ankle while stepping off a curb, though he'd die before he ever admitted it.

Hasame was... Not happy, to say the least. She picked up the phone with a brusque, "What did she do this time?" And the conversation went downhill from there. The woman completely brushed off the fact that one of her operatives was either in trouble or a mole and moved right into the fact that her niece was still alive despite all attempts to the contrary.

It was the first time Dabi could remember apologizing multiple times before even getting to the bad part, but hey, he wanted to survive today and he wasn't enough of a fool to mess with Hasame.

He was so busy trying to pacify Hasame that he completely ignored Naoko, who quickly moved from disassociating to scheming.

That was his fault really.

One day he'd learn that Naoko was most dangerous when she was stuck in her own head, but that day wouldn't be today, obviously.

Naoko hadn't started out plotting the power move of the century, she really hadn't! She was busy grumbling over the fact that her last good pair of shoes had just been ruined when she activated her quirk earlier. They deserved better than the dumpster she ended up hucking them into.

Seriously, do you know how hard it is to find good shoes for a decent price? Naoko was already vaguely murderous; this new development only made her hate Bird Bitch even more.

If he wasn't such a shitty person then she wouldn't have had to take Eri from him, and if he knew how to cut his loses and run, then she wouldn't have ended up in that stupid and completely avoidable showdown.

In an Alleyway too! God, it was so cliché!

Hawks had peaced out real quick when he heard Hasame start to swear, so she couldn't even vent to him to make herself feel better.

It was this volatile frame of mind Naoko found herself in when a thought hit her so hard, she about smacked into a second wall.

Naoko wasn't getting out of this easily, she had two enemies who definitely wanted her dead. Both also happened to be scrambling to take advantage of the power vacuum that had formed when All for One died.

At the moment, they were the two most likely powers to emerge as the new kingpins of the underground (There was maybe a third, but they weren't targeting her yet, so she was going to ignore them for now). At one point, one of the groups was going to be erased anyways... so why not...

Speed that process up?

There was no cure all in this situation, but unless Naoko was crazy, the quickest way to destroy both the Yakuza and the League of Villains would be to take the power first and choke out any group that wanted to stand against her.
