As Sonar promised, the day after Naoko's seizure they were out on the streets once more patrolling and following after Iida and his mentor. Thankfully, they were going at a much slower pace then they had before, as Naoko was still incredibly drained after everything that had happened yesterday, but Sonar was determined to get this whole thing done well before the internship happened.
Naoko was slightly afraid to know why that was, but she had a sinking suspicion that it was because he wanted her to have more than one day to clean.
The majority of the day had been some light training that had Naoko working on focusing on people without pushing herself to the point of a seizure as she had before. Little things were pointed out about her experience the day before, including the fact that she had turned a large portion of the air into plasma, and not the plasma that is in blood.
No, Naoko had turned air into highly volatile and powerful material that had a dangerous potential. It was thanks to Sonar noticing that something was wrong that Naoko didn't barbecue Iida in the process, he had derailed her powers when he pulled her into the alleyway, so the general public didn't even realize it happened.
The only thing that Naoko was absolutely horrified about was the fact that Chris had been hit with a whole load of her plasma, which burned his arm to the point where it was now in a sling. It took some time for Naoko to connect the dots... but when she did it wasn't pretty.
She just about melted down into another panic attack as she stared at Chris... How could she do that to him? She hardly realized the fact that tears were streaming down her chin until Sonar tugged her away to continue training and since then she couldn't bring herself to look at Chris for more than a seconds.
Thankfully, Sonar didn't give her any extra time to dwell on what she had done as they walked through the streets, shadowing their target once again as Sonar left increasingly cryptic clues on where she went wrong, "You shouldn't be sensing the physical functions of the body, look deeper."
"The brain is a complex thing, and looking at it's anatomy can only do you so much good."
"Just pay attention to his emotions brat, it's not that hard."
"You said you could feel the liquids and solids in this brat, which is a good start, but now you need to look less at the composition and more at the content."
Within the space of a few hours Naoko went from getting ready to have a panic attack to wanting to punch the small man, "What do you mean by any of that?!" She signed viciously after trying to follow his instructions for a majority of the day, "Why can't you just tell me what I need to do?! How hard would that be?"
Sonar's face became cruel as he looked her dead in the eyes with a smirk, "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow."
That statement was all Naoko needed to drain of color as her hands fluttered uselessly... That bastard was being vague on purpose!
Seeing as how the light in the streets was beginning to adopt an orange hue, it was easy to see that Naoko was running out of time to win the bet. Which meant that tomorrow... Well, tomorrow was probably going to be the closest thing to hell that Naoko would be able to experience in this life.
Chris, who had retained a respectable distance from Naoko ever since that morning, chuckled as he walked behind them, this really was too amusing. They had been bickering all day, which almost make up for the fact that Naoko wouldn't even look at him... If he was being honest, that stung... A lot.
He had wanted to hold a council to talk about what had happened, but Sonar stopped him, telling him that that would probably just scare her even more. Which was heartbreaking.

FanfictionSilence is such a weird concept; it's the absence of sound is all, and yet people have such different reactions to it, some would prefer silence over people, some go nearly insane when forced into silence, and some people have no choice but to adapt...
