"Whoever blushes is already guilty; true innocence is ashamed of nothing."

Just as I expected, I was met with Obi-Wan's scowling expression the moment I opened my apartment door.

"What the hell was that?" He stood up from the dining room chair as I closed the door and removed my purse from over my shoulder, "I could've had him in handcuffs (y/n), but you had to butt in and ruin it."

I rolled my eyes as I tossed my bag onto the table and went to untie my apron, "But he didn't do it Obi-Wan. Like I said, he was with me and the guy was drunk out of his mind." I can still envision his sloppy grin and dark red eyes, "Way too drunk to kill anyone."

"Who cares?" He slightly raised his voice, causing me to raise my brows at his audacity, "I still could've book him and-"

"And what?" I cut him off as I folded my arms over my chest and stood my ground, "There are two things that could've happened. One, you would have arrested him without a warrant and then you would've had only forty-eight hours to prove his guilt before he had to be released. And seeing as he didn't do it, the chances of you finding anything were very slim," Now it was me who was raising my voice, "And two, let's say you were somehow able to pin it on him seeing as there was an altercation between the two that very night and it was in the back of his club. But then he'd be arrested for something he clearly didn't do and those aren't the kind of cops we are," I poked his chest, causing him stumble back, "And what would happen with the money laundering and proving the club is a front huh?" My whole reason for being there. All he would do is take out one man in the whole thing, when we just learned there's so much more to uncover, "How are we supposed to figure out the orchestration he's working with if he's behind bars Obi-Wan. You are so blinded by getting the guy, you're not thinking clearly." I finished my long rant with a deep breath and Obi-Wan was completely silent - as he should be. I'm right and he knows it.

After a few moments, he sighed and took a step back before sitting back down on the dining chair, "Four years I've been trying to bring him down, it seems it's getting to my head." He placed his elbows on the table and rubbed his temples, "I'm sorry I raised my voice, I guess I was just worried you were getting too close and thought thats why you stepped in to his defense."

I walked over and took a seat across from him as he dropped his arms down onto the table, an exhausted look in his eyes, "I can assure you, everything is going just as planned and you have nothing to worry about," I said with confidence, "And I know you really want to get him, but let's look at the positive aspects of tonight," I smiled and he eyed me curiously as he waited for me to elaborate, "I just defended Skywalker to a cop, there's no way he's gonna become suspicious of who I am anytime soon. And I'm pretty sure I just earned more of his trust."

Obi-Wan hummed with a smile as he leaned back into the chair, "That is true," He began to stroke his beard, "And how would you describe yours and his relationship? Because I happened to have seen this." He poked his own nose.

Now I get why he thought I might be getting too close, that probably looked.. a bit intimate, especially with the involuntary blushing. When really it was just a bodily reaction that meant nothing.
