One month time jump

Narrator POV:

Today Ziva was just spending some time tidying up her house, even though she isn't a messy person, she's found herself tidying more than usual. Maybe it's a bit of boredom or being pregnant, but she's dusting the mantel for the third time in as many weeks. There's not even a full layer of dust, but she spends some time dusting the pictures anyways. She has a picture of her and Elaina, the NCIS team, her and Tony in Paris and of course Tali, Ari and her. She spends some extra time just looking at the pictures, just looking at the simpler expressions on their faces, the sense of family in all the pictures, aside from the one of her and Elaina, she just looks at the people she's left behind, the people who are not here with her, not here with her baby. She's thought a lot about the NCIS team recently, especially Tony, wondering if walking back into their lives with a baby would be fair, if they would accept her, she did just up and leave. She knows that she can't go back, it would just look like she's coming because of the incoming baby not because she wanted to see them again. Besides, she made up her mind, she's stayed away for 5 months, they've moved on, she has to too.

She moves away from the pictures and goes to wash the dishes from breakfast. Elaina came over for breakfast, seeming a little distracted and quiet, Ziva asked how she was and Elaina just shrugged, so Ziva left it, knowing that Elaina is stubborn enough that she would talk when she was ready. There was something off though, so Ziva makes a mental note to ask her again at supper, just wanting to be there for her friend who has been there for her so often. She was just thinking about that when Elaina walked in. Ziva didn't even need to turn around to know that it was Elaina.

"Wow I was just thinking about you," Ziva saying chuckling. No response comes from Elaina so Ziva turns around to see Elaina visibly wasted.

"You were drinking?!?!? At 1 o'clock in the afternoon!! Elaina you were making progress, we were making progress!!"

"Ugh, save the lecture –"

"Was it because of the thing that was bothering you at breakfast this morning?"

"Yes! I didn't know what to do, if I wanted to tell you, I thought I could figure it out, but...."

"ELAINA!"

"Ok ok ok, I don't need a lecture, you're in danger."

"What. Are. You. Talking. About." Ziva says thinking at a million miles a minute.

"I don't know who exactly, I don't know what you did, or what their plan is, all I know is that they have tactical skills and the face in their crosshairs is you."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes"

"Do I even want to know where you got this intel from?"

"Probably not"

"Trustworthy?"

"Very"

"Fine, what do you know?" Ziva leaves that argument, knowing she has withheld that information from her team before.

"Not much, I have a meeting with my guy in the olive grove, you can come or not, but for now I think it would be safer if we stayed together."

"Yes, strength in numbers, where are we staying, yours or mine?" Ziva asks.

"I don't have much to grab from mine, so lets do yours."

"Ok, we'll grab stuff from your home and then figure out our next steps" Ziva says.

"Let's do it."

Ziva's POV:

Ugh I thought I left all the danger behind me.
