Narrator's POV:

They go to Elaina's house, keeping an eye on the road and for potential threats, Ziva is at the wheel as her "reckless" driving might as well be used to avoid anyone following them. They get to Elaina's house and get inside fairly quickly and lock the door; knowing that it would do little to help them if the threat came themselves as one of the little things, they know about them is that they are tactically skilled, and that most likely includes being able to pick locks. So they make a point in being quick but grabbing anything Elaina would need for an extended stay at Ziva's farmhouse. As Elaina grabs her go bag and necessities from her bedroom, pregnant Ziva looks for some food in her cupboards.

She opens up the first one to be met with empty shelves, she opens the next one, same thing, and the next one and the next one until all the cupboard doors and the fridge is open with zero food whatsoever inside.

"Hey, Elaina where's all your food, did you have some sort of party you forgot to invite me to?" Ziva says jokingly.

"Hun?"

"I'm hungry, got any food?"

"Uhh no."

"Are you running low on cash or something? I can help you."

"No, no I'm fine on money."

"Then why don't you have food?"

"Cause I'm not hungry," Elaina says shyly.

"Ever?"

"Nope."

"Since when?"

"Since everything started catching up with me." Elaina looks down, ashamed.

"When you come to my house, it looks like you eat."

"I eat some."

"Not enough," Ziva says without any room for debate.

"Probably not."

"You need to work on this."

"This is the least of our concerns right now, someone wants you dead, I would rather starve myself then to see you get killed because we let our guard down over food."

"I would rather you eat than to be so hungry you can't focus."

"I'm not hungry!"

"You may not feel hungry, but you are, I've been there, I've been through this, people helped me through it, I'll help you through it too."

"Ok, but we really do have to go, they could be watching this house."

"Fine, we can't be too cautious."

They grab their load of stuff and get out of the house, they pull out of her driveway, get down to the end of her block and hear...

 BANG!

They turn in their seats to see smoke coming from Elaina's property. They were inside just one minute ago; someone knows exactly where they are. And that someone does not care if anyone gets caught in the crossfire.

A/N – Now the story is ramping up, with the villain probably being revealed in the next couple of chapters, which means more fun chapters coming up! And yes, I keep giving Elaina things to deal with, but I like when side characters have issues to solve and aren't just perfect characters who are only there to help the main character, because who's perfect? Anyways, thank you so much for reading!
