"Daffy?" Bugs asked out loud in immediate surprise as Daffy looks up at him, his eyes swollen red and his cheeks stained with streaks of tears as if he had been crying for hours."Hey Bugs." Daffy mumbled, his voice wobbly and cracked from the heartache that he was experiencing.
He couldn't believe it.
He was relieved that Daffy didn't leave at all.
But still....the hurt look on his face.
Told him that there was something he had been meaning to get out of his chest and the overwhelming feeling of it all was giving him a lot of pain.
Bugs thought over cautiously, with his heart sinking very heavily as he lower down to his knees, close to Daffy's sitting height and clasped one hand on his arms while the other was cupping his cheek to rub away some of the tears that were still running down his eyes.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Bugs asked, softly.
"I couldn't do it. I didn't even get on the plane." Daffy explained, sadly.
"Why?" Bugs asked, his voice calm and patient so that he wouldn't cause another misunderstanding.
"Because I realized that I was wrong about you. About your intentions and I had to come back. I had to tell you that I...." Daffy's voice croaked for a bit before he paused in hesitation.
Scared to say another word more, fearing that he would reject him or leave him in the dark like his friend did, long ago.
But luckily for him, he never has to worry about it.
Because Bugs...was someone very special to him.
"What is it? You can tell me." Bugs said softly.
"I... I fell in love with you. But I was so jealous because I kept seeing you with HIM all the time. And I thought that, if I left, you would have never needed me or even cared that I existed." Daffy explained, referring to Rodney, whose close friendship with Bugs must have made him even more insecure.
He loves me......
Bugs thought with his eyes widened and immediately hugs him tightly.
"Sigh. You silly maroon. Of course, I care about you..... more than you think. After thinking about everything you told me last night, I ran as fast as I could up to that airport. Just so I could tell you that I didn't want you to go." Bugs said as Daffy's facial expression to confusion.
"But what about your investment? I overheard you and Rodney talking about it. And you said..." Daffy was going to say until Bugs interrupted him.
"I never took that offer and I'm not going to New York with him. I can always get more opportunities here in Los Angelos. I was going to tell you why I chose to stay here that night, but I couldn't because you said that you were leaving, and I didn't know what to say back then." Bugs explained to him as Daffy, who now realizes that it was all a misunderstanding and lay his head on Bug's shoulder, embarrassed.
"Ugh, now I feel like an idiot." Daffy mumbled in regret from his rashful judgment.
"Its okay." Bugs said before releasing him from the hug and stood up from the floor.
"Here, why don't we go inside, and I'll make you something to drink. You want some coffee or hot chocolate?" Bugs offered while holding out a hand for him to help him up off the ground.
"Sniff. Can you do a homemade latte for me?" Daffy asked.
"Sure. Do you want the extra stuff with that too? I have syrups and whip cream in the fridge as well" Bugs added with a soft grin on his face.
"Yes, please." Daffy said, nodding his head as the two walked inside the apartment and closed the door behind them.
"Okay then. One large mocha latte with lots of sugar and whip cream on top.... Oh! I almost forgot." Bugs said as he turned back around to face him with the brightest smile that anybody has ever seen before.
With the light in his eyes, so shining that you knew for sure, he was very happy.
The kind of happiness that can bring your heart back to life whenever it aches inside.
"What is it..." Daffy was going to say with a laugh from his silly expressions until he was suddenly kissed on the lips.
His body suddenly stood frozen, still.
With his face very red and his heart seemly colliding in the same amount of rhythmic of rapid beats as Bugs's.
Before the two then broke apart from the kiss, their faces leaning close by an inch away from each other.
"I love you, Daffy. And...if you allow me, no matter where we are at this point with our jobs or how we'll both be able to achieve our goals and dreams by the end of it all. I want to be able to stay with you forever." Bugs confessed while Daffy, who also started to grow a smile of his own, slowly begin to hug him tightly around his neck.
"I would like that very much. I'm so sorry that it took so long for us to understand each other. I should have told you how I was feeling instead of just leaving you hanging like that. You deserved to know everything, and I was too scared to admit any of it." Daffy said, feeling guilty.
"Don't be. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. Even though our first meeting was a spilled drink incident." Bugs said with a chuckle, hoping to ease some of the tension that they were having to help make him feel better.
"Hey! Okay now, you're just making fun." Daffy said with a chuckle.
"Nah, I was just kidding. But still, nothing was any more fun than being able to hang out with you every single moment of the day. And even after that night, I was still able to realize that I never had much of a purpose at all, until I met you. You were the one person who have sparked my whole world and brought my boring life into beautiful colors again. Which made me feel, from the minute that you were gone from my life, that I couldn't do anything without you. I missed you so much." Bugs said, whose eyes were filled with tears that were threatening to spill out as he attempts to hold onto them the best he could.
"Don't worry. I'm not planning on going anywhere else. As long as I get to see you in my life as well, every single moment of the day" Daffy said as the two then looked at each other, eye to eye before slowly closing them in a sweetened longing kiss.
They may be together forever and for the rest of their days, but there is still one more thing that needs to be set before their lives can be fully complete.
Which was the dreams that they have been finally waiting for in a long time.
