Kabanata 11:
One Roof

"Now, let's give the stage to our lovely couple," the emcee instructed after our parents gave their messages to us. Napangiti naman ako at naramdaman kong tumayo si Grant at naglahad ng kamay sa akin. 

Napatingin ako sa kamay niyang nakalahad at wala akong sinayang na minuto para tanggapin ang kamay niya. He then held my hand as soon as my palm touched with his. I rose from my seat and he guided me at the center. 

Kapagkuwa'y humarap kami sa isa't isa at binitawan ang kamay ko. Napansin kong may kinuha ito mula sa bulsa niya at nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang mahagip ng mga mata ko ang isang maliit na ring box na kulay pula. 

I felt my heart start to thump fast and before I knew it, he was sinking to one knee in front of me as my mouth hung open when I realized that he was going to propose to me. 

Kalaunan ay binuksan nito ang maliit na red box at bumungad sa akin ang isang diamond ring. Napatingin ako sa mukha ni Grant at mukhang seryoso ito sa ginagawa niya. Totoo ba itong nangyayari? O panaginip lang? 

He then offered me the ring. 

"Me and you, together forever. Threscia Alessandra Qiao, will you marry me?" Diretso nitong tanong sa akin at ako naman ay parang napipi dahil hindi ako makapaniwala na nangyayari ang lahat ng ito. 

Hindi ko alam kung palabas niya lang ba ang lahat ng ito o totoo? O baka pakitang-tao lang siya?

Ay ewan, kahit ano pa ang dahilan, masaya ako na nangyayari ito ngayon. Ngumiti ako sa kaniya at nilahad sa kaniya ang kaliwa kong kamay. 

"Yes, I'll marry you, Grant," my mouth curved into a smile as I almost jump because of joy. He then smiled and took the ring out of its box. Kalaunan ay hinawakan nito ang kamay ko at dahan-dahang sinuot sa palasingsingan ko 'yong singsing. 

Nang maisuot niya sa akin ay hindi niya binitawan ang kamay ko at tumayo na ito. He then intertwined our hands making my heart beats for more. Humarap na kami sa madla na mukhang masaya para sa amin. 

"Yey! Congratulations to our newly engaged couple!" The emcee energetically announced as the crowd cheered and applauded because of it. Sumulyap ako kay Grant na nakatingin lang sa akin. 

Bigla naman akong na-conscious sa itsura ko pero confident naman ako sa itsura ko.

"W... What?" 

"You look gorgeous," napasinghap ako sa sinabi niya. Ngayon lang kasi ako sinabihan ng ganiyan ni Grant. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang nakain niya pero natutuwa talaga ako sa mga nangyayari.

Hindi ko naman maiwasan ang hindi mapangiti sa kaniya.

"You look handsome too, always," puri ko pabalik na mahina niyang ikinatawa. After that, the party resumed by playing games. I can't help but smile at our guests while relishing themselves with the games the organizers' prepared.

Indeed, it was a fabulous night for me and I think I'm the happiest girl alive today because the man I love proposed to me and he's now my fiance, officially. 

I can't precisely define what I'm feeling right now but I can barely contain my delight today. It was already midnight when the party concluded and some of our guests will consume their evening in this hotel.

While I and Grant have our own two-story residential house which our parents gave to us. It was already constructed last year without us knowing. Both families financed the bungalow house and it was made just for us. So we'll live on one roof.
