This thing was seriously nightmare fuel, it was skinny and eerily human-like except it had no eyeballs, long claws, a long tongue to go with it's deformed face, and skin-covered bat-like wings. It flew towards us, nearly knocking me off my feet.
"What is it?!"I yelled.
"Bal-bal, I think. It feasts on carcasses on corpses, it probably thinks Erik is dead!"Aella called over, taking out her steak-knife. "What's the plan?"Aella asked, I shrugged.
"We don't let it eat Erik, and then we leave!"Loona yelled, slashing at the monster. "Sounds like a good plan."I stabbed the bal-bal in the leg.. it was hard not to laugh at it's weird name. "Maybe we should show it that Erik isn't dead?"I asked as the monster swooped down to me again, I just barely dodged.
"The thing is, its attracted to him because he's so close to death... I wouldn't want to make him closer!"Loona said between slashes. The creature breathed in my face, making me want to puke. I nearly passed out because of its foul breath, probably from it only eating corpses... yup, it smelled like death. I coughed, "Don't- let it breathe on you!"I yelled over to them. We were in an alleyway, so no mortals seemed to pay attention to us. Loona got a slash right at the monster's face, "Tell it to sleep?"I asked, panting."No... I- I can't..."Loona stopped for a bit, and then she kept fighting it. I knew why she didn't want to... she killed her mother and step-father with that power, but we needed it if we were gonna survive, the thing just kept swooping down. "This isn't the first time something's tried to eat Erik!"I joked to brighten the mood, the others laughed. I finally stabbed into the monster's wing, leaving it to screech at me, and then it flew away. Erik groaned in pain, I looked over, and the monster had clawed into his stomach.
"We have to hurry up, now."I told them, they nodded. We ran towards camp, Loona led since she supposedly had been there the longest, besides Erik. And we finally made it, the stone gates opened as we arrived, and we walked inside our Demon camp. The closest thing we had to a real home as Demi-demons.
Beatriz rushed over, Jade by her side, "Ah, you surived, where's your sister?"Jade asked, smirking. "Not... here- but, Erik-"I'm cut off by Erik falling to the floor, whoever was carrying him just dropped him. He groaned in pain, feathers sprouted out of his skin, his eyes went completely white. Not a good sign.
"War! Death! WRATH! VENGEANCE. Death! I know all, I know h-how you DIE, I know your WEAKNESSES!"Erik snarled, though... it seemed like it wasn't him talking, a woman was talking through him. And then it hit me... Satan was taking over him aswell as the wisdom of the apple.
"He- he ate the wisdom apple, Satan's also in there- or something."I mumbled, exhuasted. Beatriz backed up from him, though Jade looked intruigued. "Bring him to the infirmary."They said, but all I remember was collapsing on the floor. I was safe. As safe as a Demi-demon could be, at least.I let sleep overcome me, I didn't dream, I didn't feel any pain, I just floated in a void. And I knew, I would soon wake up and everything would be okay, right? Yup... the start of the summer and I had a nice camp to go to, I didn't have to live from old junk car to old junk car. I had a new home. And Ellisse was gonna share it with me when I found her.
