There was a slight rocking of the ship as Erik awoke Ada was still asleep in his arms. "It's not a dream." He whispered breathing in her scent mixed in with a tiny of salt water in the air. Ada stirred turning towards him, "good morning husband."

Erik chuckled warmly kissing her neck, "how about some breakfast?"
"Hmmm sounds good." Erik rolled out of bed slipping on some cloths, mask and his hat. Erik stayed in the shadows as he walked the ship deck making sure not to be seen. He grabbed some bread and fruit. And snuck back to their room. "Here, this is what I could find." Ada sat up smiling, "Thank you."

The days began to merge together, none of the passengers could leave their rooms except for food so they had to make due in the little rooms each family was given. Erik spent the days reading to Ada she loved listening to his rich voice.
Erik began messing around with her violin teaching himself to play. He liked his piano much more but the violin took care of his music urges.

Finally It was the last night on the ship you could feel the urgency to get off the boat in everyone. Erik was finishing organizing the trunk as Ada watched him curled up in the blankets. "Are you sure you're feeling ok?" Erik asked her sitting down on the rickety bed. "I told you it's fine just some cramps." Ada sighed clutching her abdomen. "That's not normal though."
Ada laughed softly, "it is I promise."

"Well if you feel any worse..."

"I know, I know I'll tell you. And the doctor will laugh at you and say it is a regular occurrence."

"Well lying in bed cramping and begging for food doesn't sound like you."
"Angel, relax." She sighed closing her eyes.

The night couldn't pass fast enough the dawn came. Sunrays peeked through the cracks in the window shutters, quietly he slid out of bed and opened the window letting a stream of light shine through. There sitting on the horizon was their new home waiting for them. It was green and beautiful. "Ada, wake up." Erik whispered softly shaking her shoulder. Ada's eyes cracked open, "what?"

"Take a look." Ada got up and looked through the window, "it's beautiful.. I can't believe we are here." They watched as the land come closer, there in a small island stood the Statue of Liberty she was beautiful, a symbol of freedom. They docked at Ellis Island and prepared to go through the scannings. Erik went into one room and Ada in another.

"Any fevers, coughs or illness sense France?" The doctor questioned Erik not bothering to look up. "No."

"Any diseases or disabilities?"
"No."

"Why the mask?" The doctor asked looking at the mask. "A war injury, I wear it for protection." Erik lied. "You pass."

Erik waited outside till Ada came out, she was glowing as she skipped towards Erik wrapping her arms around his neck and giving him a kiss. "What happened?" Erik asked. "Nothing, everything is so perfect! I love you." Ada seemed overly happy her normal laid back self talked his ears off as they searched for an apartment to rent.

They entered an apartment building an older grey hairs lady sat at the desk. "Good afternoon." She beamed her eyes lighting up at the sight of the two.

"Good afternoon madam. We would like a room do you have any available?" Erik asked speaking perfect English. "We actually just got an opening, you pay 2 months in advance and then at the beginning of each month."

"Thank you madam."

"What's your first and last names?" The lady asked pulling out her guest books.

"Erik Y and my wife Ada."

Ada grasped his arm "Erik I don't understand a single word that's being said." Ada stated a bit of worry filtering through her voice.

"I'm sorry angel, we just got a room." Erik told her. Ada nodded.
"Did you just arrive from France?" The woman asked the couple leading them up the stairs to their room. "Yes we just came in."

"What business are you in?"

Erik lit up and Ada knew he must be speaking of her or the opera. "I'm planning on opening a opera house."

The woman gasped, "I've always wanted to be in the opera!"
"Well I'll keep you in mind madam."

"Here is your room, if you need anything let me know."
Erik thanked her and closed the door.

"So tell me," Ada sighed sitting her weary self on the bed, "when did you learn English."

"I picked it up on the ship."
Ada rolled her eyes, "of course my genius husband just learned a new language flawlessly in a matter of a few weeks."

"I'm sure you'll pick it up soon."
