Zaras Pov:

We're now back in the living room and soon my parents are here. As much as I'm excited for that I can't focus on that right now.

Marcel is still flirting with my Maya..

So I just flop down on the couch next to Avery with a sigh.

"You know you can still tell Marcel to back off." She tells me, making me look at her.

"I know.."

"I just don't want to ruin the mood. Everyone is getting along so well right now." I add with a small sigh as I look at everyone.

"But you clearly don't like it that he literally flirts with your girlfriend." Victoria says as she gets over to us ans sits down next to Avery.

I sigh deeply. "Maybe I'm just not confident enough. I know I come off as confident but I'm really not. And Maya, she's..she's so beautiful. How could you not be totally in love with her?" I mutter while looking down.

But then I suddenly feel two hands on my thighs, which makes me look up immediately.

"Hey." Maya says softly, making me smile.

"Hi.." I mutter while licking my lips.

She then goes to sit down on my lap and lays her arms over my shoulders. I put my hands on her hips and pull her body more into mine, so her front is pressed against my chest.

"If you two wouldn't be best friends it would look like you two are a thing." I suddenly hear Marcel, which makes me sigh deeply.

"Excuse me, baby." I mumble while getting up while lifting Maya up with me.

I then turn around and put her back down on the couch before turning to Marcel.

"Okay Marcel, look. You're a great dude but seriously, stop." I tell him but he just frowns.

"What do you mean?" He asks confused, making me sigh.

"I don't know how you haven't noticed this because we're not even trying to hide it. Neither did we at Matthews wedding. Maya is my girlfriend, not my best friend." I answer and his eyes slowly widen.

"You-" He stops talking when I nod.

"Dude, why didn't you tell me I've been flirting with your girlfriend?" He asks, on which I look down ashamed.

"I-I don't know. I just..I don't know.." I mutter quietly.

"Excuse me.." I mumble before quickly walking upstairs.

I go inside the guestroom, where Maya and I'll be staying and sit down on the bed. I sigh deeply while burying my face in my hands.

But then there was a sudden knock on the door, making me look up.

"Can I come in?" I hear Maya call me, so I get up and walk towards the door.

As soon as I open the door Maya hugs me tightly.

"Everything okay?" She asks while tightly holding onto my back.

"Yeah.." I mutter while bringing my hands up on her back.

"You sure?" She asks again while leaning back to look at me.

Maya cups my cheeks and I give her a small nod with a smile. She smiles as well and then gives me a soft kiss.

"I don't know why I get so..insecure sometimes. I mean..I know that people flirting with you won't change anything but I'm just so..scared to loose you to someone better." I mutter, which makes her face soften.

"There isn't anyone better. I only want you." She tells me while gently squeezing my cheeks.

I slowly start to smile and then lean down to kiss her. After that I wrap my arms around her waist and hug her tightly while burying my face in her neck.

"I know I can't make your thoughts go away but you need to trust me, okay? I'm not interested in anyone but you. I don't want to be with anyone else." Maya says while gently brushing her hand over my hair.

"I do trust you, I just don't trust them." I mumble shyly and she gently kisses my head at that.

"I know baby, I know. But believe me, no one is going to take me away from you." She replies softly, on which I hold onto her tighter.

We stay like this for a while until we eventually pull away. "Wanna go back downstairs?" She adds and I nod, making her smile.

"Then let's go."
