Lost Father

School Pt 2

Neo POV

As we exit Glynda's class we head to the cafeteria to eat lunch. After making my tray I sit with the others.

Nora: "There we were... in the middle of the night."

Ren: "It was daytime."

Nora: "Ursai in every direction."

Ren: "Beowolves."

Nora: "Lots of them!"

Ren: "Two of them."

Nora: "But they didn't stand a chance. Ren and I slaid them all and made a fortune selling their hides."

Ren: "It's been the same dream for months."

Neo: "Sounds like an awesome dream."

Nora: "Glad someone likes it."

Pyrrha: "You okay Jaune?"

Jaune: "Oh, yeah, I'm fine."

Ruby: "You don't look fine."

Jaune: "I'm fine, really. Look."

He gives a fake smile and a thumbs up.

Pyrrha: "It's Cardin isn't it?"

Jaune: "Winchester? Nah."

Ruby: "He's a bully to you."

Jaune: "He just like to play practical stuff."

Girl: "That hurts!"

We all look to see Cardin pulling on a girl's rabbit ears.

Cardin: "I told you they were real."

Sky: "What a freak."

Pyrrha: "Despicable."

Nora: "I hope he gets run over."

The girl begins crying which pushes me over the edge. I march over to Cardin as he looks down at me.

Cardin: "What do you want tiny?"

I transform my parasol to its gun form. I then unload into his happy place. He drops screaming like a school girl. I look at his teammates.

Neo: "Leave, before I make you."

They choose correctly and leave. I holster my parasol and walk to the girl.

Neo: "You alright?"

Girl: "They hurt my ears."

I rub them. Her faces explodes into red when she starts purring. When I let go she heads to her teammates. We all then head to our next class.

Oobleck: "This is all prior to the Faunus War. While this must feel like old news it's important to know that it's actually recent. Why the consequences of which are still felt to this very day. Now how many among you have be judged because of your Faunus heritage?"

Several raise their hand.

Oobleck: "This' just dreadful. It's this kind of hate that breeds violence. Just look at the White Fang. One another note, who can tell me the defining moment of the war?"

Weiss: "The battle of Ovaltine point."

Oobleck: "Correct. And what was the advantage the Faunus had?"

Jaune: *grabs head* "Hey."

Oobleck: "Thank you for your input. What's the answer?"

He looks around when he sees Pyrrha doing charades revealing the answer.

Jaune: "Eyes?"

Oobleck: "Close. Cardin?"

Cardin: "You'd have better luck training an animal rather than a human."

Pyrrha: "How close minded of you."

Cardin: "What'd you say to me?"

Pyrrha: "I have the answer. It's night vision. Every Faunus are known to have exceptional sight in the dark."

Neo: "If you ask me the General was a fool. He tried to take on an opponent who had the edge over him. Maybe if he studied more then he wouldn't have gone down as a joke. Like some people here."

I look at Cardin making everyone laugh. But when Jaune laughs Oobleck calls him out.

Oobleck: "Mr. Arc, you and Mr. Winchester can both see me after class."

Neo: "Now that's not fair."

Oobleck: "Do you wish to join them?"

I look down.

Neo: "No."

The bell rings ending class. As I exit the classroom I hang back listening to Oobleck.

Oobleck: "You two've been struggling since day one. I don't know what the issue is but it stops now. You've worked hard to enter this school, and we only take the very best. So you better start acting like it. It's important to know history. Because if you don't then you're only doomed to repeat it. Now for the punishment. I want an essay on pages fifty one to ninety one on my desk by next class. Now run along."

I walk back to my dorm to sleep for the day.
