Lost Father

Raising Neo Pt 2

3rd POV

At first light Y/N picks up Neo carrying her down the road. An hour later she finally awakens. 

Y/N: "Morning."

She looks down.

Y/N: "You were sleeping so peacefully so I thought I'd just carry you."

She looks up at him smiling. After another half hour they finally arrive at a small town by the name of Sona.

Y/N: "Now, to find a tailor."

Looking all around he finally finds and enters one.

Owner: "Greetings. How may I be able to assist you?"

Y/N: "Kid needs some clothes. Think you can help?"

Owner: "Absolutely. Just follow me."

Y/N sets Neo down as she looks up at him.

Y/N: "I'm gonna leave you with her for a second. I'm gonna go get some supplies but I'll be back the second I'm done."

She hugs his waist tightly. He leans down to her level.

Y/N: "I promise I'll be back. I give you my word."

Reluctantly she lets go. He then leaves to get supplies. Some time later he arrives as she walks out in a new set of clothes.

Y/N: "How much do I owe you?"

Owner: "Since she was so sweet, I'll go half price. Fifty Lien."

Y/N hands her the cash before walking out of the store. As he and Neo walk her stomach loudly growls.

Y/N: "Suppose it's about time for lunch."

They head into a tavern where they place their order. 

Y/N: "I got you a present."

He reaches into his bag. He then withdraws a small notebook and pencil. Neo grabs it tilting her head.

Y/N: "Since we're gonna be together I might as well teach you a few things."

He grabs one of the utensils.

Y/N: "This is a fork. F-o-r-k. Fork. Spell it."

Neo opens the notebook spelling out the word. She then shows Y/N.

Y/N: "Good job. You can use that to practice spelling."

Neo smiles when their food arrives.

*timeskip* 

It's been a year. In that time Y/N's taught Neo how to read and spell. She still has yet to talk but that's likely due to her childhood. At the moment they enter a small inn to spend the night. Late into the night Neo's awoken by banging. Getting there she sees Y/N repeatedly slamming his head into an already broken mirror.

Worried she goes to check on him. But the second she gets close he snaps his gaze to her. A fog covers his eyes as he grabs a glass shard. Then without warning he runs to Neo. Neo frantically runs away to escape Y/N.

He however catches her and pins her to the ground. She desperately tries to escape but Y/N slices her side ceasing her escape attempt. He then raises the shard above him as he mutters the word die under his breath. Her life flashes before her eyes she she opens her mouth.

Neo: "Y/N!!!"

This breaks him out of his trance. He looks down seeing a terrified and bleeding Neo. He drops the shard and just sits on his bed. Neo sits up and joins him on the bed.

Y/N: "I'm sorry Neo. I'm sorry you had to see that side of me."

Neo: "What was all that about?"

Y/N: "Every now and then my past will haunt me. I'll get too deep into my own head and lose my way."

He looks down as tears begin to fall.

Y/N: "I'm so scared Neo. Scared that one day I'll lose all sense of reason and hurt you. You shouldn't be with me. You're in danger."

Neo slaps his cheek. She then hugs him.

Neo: "I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here with you. If you get lost in your head then I'll be the one to lead you back. I swear Y/N, as long as I'm here you'll never snap."

He returns her hug. After their heart to heart Y/N heads to the bathroom to patch Neo up. As he bandages her he stares at her wound, a wound he caused. She grabs his cheeks making him look into her eyes.

Neo: "It's okay Y/N. You didn't mean to. I won't ever hold this against you."

She then lays his forehead on hers smiling.

Neo: "I love you Y/N. And I always will."

Y/N: "I love you too Neo."
