"Move Erikson, move!" Mr Moore the gym teacher/athletic director shouted from across the gym, as Jake sprinted from one side of the gym to the other. "Pick up those legs or I swear I'll cut you from the team!"

"He's not even on the team coach," one of the football players said to Mr. Moore. "And besides he's running faster than all of us."

Jake laughed at the gym teacher when he realised that he'd just made a fool of himself in front of the whole football team. Jake walked over to the water fountain by the boys locker room, before taking a drink and heading in to change. In all honesty Jake could be on the football team, he'd received several offers from Mr. Moore to join but his legal guardians wouldn't go for it. In reality he was lucky to even be in school at all, it wasn't exactly allowed for people like him to go to school. His guardians were pulling some strings within their order to let he and Lance to attend a public school, which Jake liked. It gave him a life outside of hunting down undesirables in the city.

Jake was a part of a large organization called the Saint Shields, which was basically just like a secret police charged with the protection of the human race. They're trained from birth to fight and kill a range of Supernatural Beings, which included but was not imited to vampires and werewolves. That's not to say that he walked around the streets at night looking for a fight, only when a Being draws human blood is he obligated to take action. As long as the Beings behave themselves they can do whatever they want without getting any trouble from the Saints.

Jake though, is a Saint-in-training which has become known by his fellow Saints as an Unrisen. Jake and all other minors will retain the title of Unrisen until they reach the age of 18 and take on their first solo mission. Should the Unrisen live to see their first mission complete, they'll be granted the title of Saint and will be given the option of living in the Saints' home Aeria.

Jake never thought about the future though, he was one of those people who lived for the here and now. Andright now he was simply an Unrisen under the guidence of a former Saint. Like all other Unrisen, he was being taught the ways of a Saint. But Jake was receiving training from two very famous Saints who were legends among the Saint Shields for their accolades in their youth. Though sometimes he didn't see what was so great about them, Jake never questioned a thing they did or their methods which could be rather brutal at times.

After he had finished changing Jake ran out the lockerroom's back door just as the bell to end the school day sounded and the halls were filled with hundreds of eager teenagers. Shouldering his way through the sea of bodies, Jake reached his locker just before Lance closed it on him.

"Hey don't close it!" Jake exclaimed just in time to keep Lance from shutting it. Jake threw his books in the locker and slung his bag over his shoulder before shutting it. "Thanks."

Lance shrugged before the two of them walked through the slightly less crowded hallways headed for the exit. This how it usually was in this school, kids eager to get out of school and go to the beach. Since they were on the west coast in the spring time, and it being Friday no one was wasting anytime in leaving this place. But unfortunately for Jake and Lance, all Friday meant was more hunting and less 'playtime.'

Oh well, he thought as they exited the school. Not like either of them had especially good social lives, that was a condition for the two of them to attend school. Don't do anything that would attract too much attention to themselves. Besides the hordes of girls that wanted a piece of Lance, they did pretty good at staying below the radar. Neither of them ever played any sports, were in any school clubs, or went on any class field trips, that last part sort of bugged Jake since he wanted to see what there was beyond a life of killing, but it'd pay off in the long run was what he always told himself.
