Jake's POV:
Jake shot up from his bed, his hair was dripping with sweat dripping down his face. As soon as he sat up though he wished that he hadn't because pain shot through his ribs as he did forcing him back down to the bed that he was laying on. He grabbed at his ribs which only made him feel even worse. His fingertips brushing his ribs felt like someone was dragging a dull blade over them. He tried rolling over but he felt strong hand push him back down, his first instinct was to fight but the familiar voice of Father Matthew made him stop.
"Jacob stop," the old Saint commanded holding him down by the shoulders. "You had a cracked rib that just finished healing. Rayne came over to fix you up."
"Wha-" Jake asked looking down at himself and saw that he had a very thin blanket covering him, luckily though he still had his pants on. "What the hell happened to me?"
"You were attacked by a rather strong vampire." Father Matthew reached into one of the many pockets before he produced Jake's Saint Shield necklace. "You lost this when you were attacked, something you know that you shouldn't do. This is your lifeline Jacob, you never lose this."
"Yes sir," Jake said holding his hand out and taking the necklace from his mentor before he put it around his neck. "Sorry for letting a Being get the jump on me sir."
Father Matthew closed his eyes and his face softened to a point of such happiness that Jake got the feeling that something bad had happened. He sat up as far as his ribs would allow which as of now was pretty much only until he was sitting on his elbows. It wasn't very high, but at least he was able to get a better look at his mentor now.
"Did something else happen?"
"Jake!" A voice exclaimed behind Father Matthew before the old Saint could even say a word. From behind Father Matthew's broad frame, Eve appeared and she looked like she was about to start crying. "Jake you're up. When we got the call I got worried and insisted that I come and-"
"JACOB-" Another voice chimed up as a well dressed figure pushed it's way through Father Matthew as well as Eve. Jake made a face as the strange witch Garret appeared and practically hopped on him while hugging him.
Jake winced as the witch touched his still tender ribs and just like that the witch was thrown off of him and pinned against the wall by Father Matthew. "Don't you ever do something like that again you hear me?" Garret's eyes were wide with shock as he looked down at Father Matthew who growled another threat to the witch. "You touch my student again and I swear I'll-"
"Matthew!" Sister Mary exclaimed as she walked into the room and saw the scene before her. She grabbed her husbands arm and gently lowered it. "That's no way to treat Rayne's guest."
"He was hurting Jacob." Was all that Father Matthew would say.
Siste Mary looked at the others in the room before she began to heard them out the door. It took her a matter of about ten seconds to clear the room of everyone else, so now it was just Jake and his two mentors in the room. She closed the door to the room and slowly turned around to look at Jake who was being helped up by Father Matthew. He looked up at his second mentor and couldn't help but wonder what else had happened too make her look so grim.
"Matthew you'd better let him rest for a moment." Matthew gave his wife a look before nodding head and keeping their student on the table but allowed him to sit up. Sister Mary meanwhile sat in the chair the was beside the bed and gave him a look that Jake could only describe as a look of such sadness he was prepared to see tears run down his mentors face. She never cried however, instead she hardened her face and spoke with a clear voice. "Do you remember what happened to you?"
