"A Strigoi?" Jake repeated.

He was looking down at the restrained vampire finally taking in it's features. It had an ashy grey skin tone and from what he could see it was literally just skin and bones. It had no hair anywhere on it's body, and it's skin was smooth in places that it shouldn't be making it impossible to tell whether it was a male or female. It's pupils had grown large and dark letting no white shine through. It's lips were curled back in a permanent snarl, revealing dozens of jagged teeth that appeared to be serrated as well for a much more immobilizing bite. What little clothes it did have on were completely shredded not aiding in identifying the vampire's gender.

Finally his eyes settled on the pointed ears that had told Father Matthew  that this creature was what was called a Strigoi. To be quite honest he didn't see how the ears would've been the identifying mark on this thing, especially when there's so many other things that could make it a Strigoi. But Jake knew better than to say something about it. Knowing Father Matthew the way he did Jake would more than likely get a good thrashing if he said something like that.

"What's a Strigoi?" Luis asked from behind Jake making him jump slightly and he turned to see that both of the alphas were looking over his shoulder at the Strigoi.

"And more importantly how do kill it." Merrick said shooting daggers at the Strigoi. If looks could kill, Jake thought to himself.

"Its a- its an old breed of vampire from Africa and Europe long thought extinct." Sister Mary said taking hold of the now confirmed vampire's jaw and turned it's head. "They were supposedly wiped out by the Elven Knights because of their seemingly unending thirst for blood. No one really knows why they only originated out in the two central continents, but they have no discrimination towards their prey. They'll even prey on other vampires as well. It's commonly believed that they don't-"

"How do we kill it," Merrick interrupted which annoyed Jake a great deal. Sister Mary was as much his mother as any woman could be, but he bit back an insult before he started something with the Los Lobos again.

"Well they're a great deal stronger than normal vampires," Sister Mary continued as she stood up but shot Merrick a stern look. "The only known methods are-"

Once again the elderly woman was interrupted, only this time it was by her own husband who had swung a broad sword with all of his might taking off the Strigoi's head. Jake jumped at the suddenness of the strike and he felt his jaw drop when he saw the vampire burst into a cloud of ashes. Father Matthew gave Mary a look before taking his sword back and returned it to it's sheath under his robe.

"Cut off it's head." He said looking directly at Merrick as he added. "Or in your case tear it off."

Merrick grumbled something under his breath before turning around and called for Lance and the young girl who was tending to him, who Jake had just realised was the same girl that they'd met the first day coming here.. They ran over to them though Lance was a little slower than she was, must still be healing. All Beings had a very fast healing rate with the vampires being the fastest healers, but when suffered a wound by another Being the wound heals much slower so its only natural that Lance still be rather sore.

"I want you two to set up a patrol and head out in a half hour, we don't know how many of these freaks are still out there." Merrick ordered.

Both of the young wolves surprisingly nodded in agreement which caught Jake completely off guard. Lance, the boy who claimed he found all werewolves offensive due to their nature, had just agreed to an order given by a pack leader. It was such a monumental occasion that Jake was about to say something about it but stopped short once he got a look at Lance's neck. The area where the Strigoi had bitten him had mostly healed, but Jake could see that there was a dark ring surrounding it almost like an infection was setting in. Again he was going to say something but Sister Mary shouldered her way towards the other boy she thought of as a son and surprisingly pushed him away from the rest of them.
