Jake's POV:

"Hey Jake," a girl's voice called out as Jake felt someone begin to shake him awake. "Come on you lazy bum wake up."

Jake slowly lifted his head from his desk to see that he was alone in the classroom, save for Eve beside him shaking him awake. Jake sat up straight and stretched his frame as much as the confining desk would allow. He was sore from the previous night's little meeting with his new partner, on top of the beating he'd suffered before that. Needless to say, Jake wasn't exactly brimming with energy today.

"Maybe you'd better go home," Eve suggested as Jake slowly got up from his seat grabbing his books as well. He agreed with her on that point, he should be home resting, but he'd missed three days this week alone. Anymore and he might fall too far behind and he voiced these concerns to Eve who gave him a concerned look, as she took him gingerly by the hand. "Jake this is the third time in our first four classes that I had to wake you up. I'm worried about you. Even you Saints need your rest."

"That they do," Jake said giving Eve a reassuring smile along with a gentle squeeze of her hand. It was all an act of course, she wasn't wrong to be worried about him either. Jake felt like he could probably fall asleep standing if he wasn't careful, but he wasn't about to let her know that. He had other reasons for showing up at school today, and both of them had British accents and startling eye colors. "But I'm not a Saint, I am Unrisen so I can't afford the luxury of rest as often as a Saint. Besides, I missed too many days this week already."

"And your new 'brother' has nothing to do with you showing up here half dead right?" Eve asked sternly fixing Jake with a hard look that made him want to laugh at her, because every time she tried to look mad she always stuck out her lips for some reason.

"Well he's one reason, but I'm serious about missing too many days. Did you know that I have one of the worst attendance records in this school?" Eve simply gave him an annoyed look which Jake disarmed by doing something that he knew she wouldn't expect. He leaned forward and gave her gentle kiss on the lips that lasted only about four seconds. However short it was, it had done it's job because when he pulled away Eve was looking dreamily up into his eyes with a fulfilled smile on her face. "See you in Chem. Eevee."

Jake patted her on the head and called her by her pet name as he moved past her now feeling a little more energized after the kiss he'd just shared with Eve. They'd grown up together and though they'd shared the greeting kisses of witches, Jake always snuck a few of his own claiming them as payback for tainting his lips. It was all in good fun however, but even he couldn't deny the light spark he always felt when their lips touched. Eve's reaction to his kiss all but told him she felt it too. After all, he hadn't kissed her back in what was going on four months now and that was long overdue. Maybe he'd give her another sometime today, everyone in school already thought they were dating so it wouldn't be weird if he did it.

That is, unless Andrew saw it. Union between human and Being was a taboo that had severe consequences. That being said Jake snapped himself from his little high that he'd felt from kissing Eve as he walked down the hall. It must've been lunchtime because the halls were all but empty save for a teacher here and there. Deciding that he could use a little bit of food in his stomach Jake turned around just in time for Eve to catch up and entwine their arms together. Again Jake felt those same sparks flutter with his gut at the contact but made no move to remove her. He'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the little bit of contact, its not like they were getting married after all, just harmlessly holding onto each other as they walked.

"I figured you'd be hungry," Eve said as the two of them rounded a corner and she held out a small blue bin. Jake raised his eyebrows at the bin as she told him what lay within. "It's some leftover chocolate cake from foods class. Had to fight off half the class in order to save it for you cause I knew you'd be hungry."
