Jake's POV:
What the hell am I doing? Jake wondered. He was walking up to the Emergency Room entrance of the Silver Lake Medical Center with someone that he tried to kill not even a week ago. And to be honest, Jake was sure that Issac wouldn't mind killing him either. This already went against a lot of Saint Shields' beliefs to be bringing a vampire to a potential late night snack in all the sick people. Despite this however, he couldn't bring himself to truly care about all that. His family was being threatened by a powerful vampire and that was all Jake was thinking about.
He and Issac were just about to go in through the entrance when the vampire grabbed Jake by the shoulder and dragged him off to the side. “What the hell are you-“
Issac quieted Jake by placing an icy hand over his mouth and peeking over the top of the bush. Jake quickly removed the vampire’s hand and peeked over the bush himself only to see a few people dressed in doctor’s uniforms walking right past them and through the automated doors. Already feeling like a fool Jake smacked Issac’s hand away from his shoulder before standing up and brushing himself off. Issac on the other hand, remained crouching behind the bush as if he could know something that Jake did not.
“There’s nothing out here to be worried about.” Jake insisted trying to move Issac into a standing position but the vampire refused to be moved. “Fine have it your way.”
With that Jake walked from behind the bush and into the emergency waiting room. He didn’t quite understand why Issac didn’t want to move from where he was hiding, but it mattered not to Jake. He only used the vampire for a faster means to get here from Santa Monica, which would’ve normally taken Jake anywhere from 20 minutes to a half hour to make. If Issac wanted to sit outside and be paranoid then by all means, waste your own time outside. Jake thought as he made his way across the waiting room.
The flooring of the hospital was rather simple, a trait which Jake guessed was just meant to save money for other things within the hospital. It went from the flat green carpeted floor of the waiting room, to the plain white tiles that lined the hallways. The hospital had way more twists and turns than Jake felt that it needed, especially since he found himself in a hurry to get to the 6th floor of the building where his mentor was probably still in surgery.
When Jake finally found a familiar looking hallway with a sign reading elevators he damn near let out a little cheer. But now was not the time for cheering, he told himself plainly. It was just time to get back to Sister Mary and make sure that everything was going alright with his other mentor. Jake reached the elevators in record time and was pacing impatiently waiting for the doors to open. He looked up at the little black screen that told him what floors the elevators were currently on and it looked as if a lot of them were on level six or higher.
Shaking that bit of information off Jake pressed the call button once again for an elevator. It was a whole minute before the bell finally dinged and one of the four elevators opened up. Jake walked into the small room and pressed the button for his floor when he felt a vibration on his backside. Fishing into his back pocket Jake produced his Sensor and flipped it open. What a bad time for a job he thought as he looked over the small screen,
Much to his surprise it wasn’t a message about a job that had set his Sensor off after all, but rather it’d picked something up. He brought the small device closer to his face and tried to make out just what kind of reading it was that he was getting at the moment. It was a strange reading though; it read high which didn’t surprise him since Rayne as well as Eve could very well have used this elevator. But the funny thing was that it wasn’t the same type of reading that Jake usually got with a witch.
Normally when a Saint’s Sensor picked up on a Being a small colored bar appears below the meter. That meter has a range of six colors one for each species. There was green for the elves, grey for dark elves, brown for humans, red for vampires, yellow for witches, and blue for werewolves. But for whatever reason the bar that Jake was seeing was black. Not knowing what that could mean Jake put his Sensor back in his pocket and began to fidget with his hands begging the elevator to go faster.
