Jake was just getting back to the church after he'd dropped off Eric back on campus. The sun was beginning to go down when his butt vibrated. He raised and eyebrow before he dug inside the pocket that held his phone to see that he was getting a call from an unknown number. Ordinarily he'd ignore all private or unknown numbers, but he decided to be venturous and answer it.
"Hello this is Jake," he said clearly into the phone.
"Hello Jacob," a deep and rumbly voice answered on the other end of the phone. "It feels nice to hear your voice again. Last time I heard it you were just a a baby crying out loud just because you wanted to be difficult."
"Who is this?" Jake demanded suddenly feeling a fit of rage coming on after this person mentioned seeing him as a baby.
"Oh you know who I am Jacob," the voice answered sounding as if he didn't believe that Jake didn't know who it was. "I'm the one who brought you to the Saints in the first place."
"Who the fu-" Jake began but the person on the other end interrupted him sounding very stern now.
"Watch your language boy, or I'll have to pay you another visit in your crib again." The man on the other end let out a throaty laugh which actually unnerved Jake a bit and he began to look around to see if he was being watched. "Don't worry I'm nowhere near you just yet, but I do have a question for you-"
"What.." Jake said flatly and glaring ahead as if he were face to face with whoever this was.
"Would you miss Lance if he were to die tonight?"
"Who the hell are you?!" Jake shouted into the phone but the receiver had gone dead.
Swinging his leg over the seat Jake sped away from the church's garage heading straight for Santa Monica. He bobbed and weaved through all of the incoming traffic and even hoisted himself up onto the sidewalk which made several people dive to the side of run away. Jake didn't care though he needed to get to Santa Monica Harbour as fast as he could, and if that meant scaring a few people than so be it.
He flipped his phone open and punched in Lance's number before bringing it to his ear. The phone rang four times before Jake heard the familiar voice of his friend. "Something happen Jake?"
"Where are you exactly," Jake demanded as he just barely managed to dodge and incoming semi.
"I'm at the harbour in Santa Monica talking to Luis's granddaughter," Lance said though it sounded more like a question than an answer. "Jake what's going on why do you sound so worked up?"
"Lance just stay there in where people can see you alright I'm on my way." Jake said ignoring his friend's question again. "Please just stay there."
"Okay, okay I'll stay where I can be seen." Lance said though he didn't sound all too happy about it.
"Good I'm by Beverly Hills so I'll be there in a few minutes." Jake said and after Lance confirmed that he had heard it Jake hung up the phone.
~~Lance's Pov~~
Lance looked down at his phone after Jake had abruptly hung up on him. It was an extremely rare occurrence for Jake to lose his cool like he'd just done over the phone, telling Lance that something was indeed very wrong. He closed his phone and laid back down on the bed that he'd been resting on and turned his head to see Maria laying on her side holding her head up with her hand. Lance and Maria had gotten very...close since Lance was told to stay with the Los Lobos this past weekend.
Of all the younger pack members, Maria was the first and so far the only one to had even acknowledged his presence. She was a very nice and open hearted girl, and her physical appearance only added to Lance's almost animal-like attraction to her. She had a semi-tan complexion that told him she had some Hispanic heritage, but her soft brown hair told him that she also had some strong American blood in her as well. Lance could lay here and just gaze into her big brown eyes for hours and never once get bored, and she seemed to feel the same way because the first night he spent with her they just laid together staring at each other well past midnight.
