Sonic's POV
Returning to base, I see Nightly pacing with her tails lashing. Oh boy... heh. What's she upset about, this time? She glances over
"Glad you guys are safe" she says, before returning to her idle pacing.
"And are you ok?" she throws her hands into the air, before leaving the room. Ok then- i look around, seeing Knuckles working at a machine.
"Hey Knuckles." he glances up "how's everything going on here at HQ?" he gives a light forced smile
"Quiet, which makes me suspicious." ah-
"Also where's Violet?"
"Out saving some civilians" Hm... well, I'm glad that she is doing this for the good of all Mobians. "Why do you ask?"
"Because why not?" I laugh. "I care for the well being of all the resistance members." I glance back at Stitch. Well, at least she isn't as beat up as me or Silver. I still find it strange that 'Infinite' paid her almost no attention. He fought me and Silver, and she even tried to attack him. I get that im a threat to Eggman, but like, come on.
"Why'd that girl storm off when you asked if she was ok?" Stitch cuts me out of my confused thoughts, i shrug
"Also her name's Nightly" i smile slightly
"I Might know why she's upset" Silver speaks, though his voice is clipped since you know... getting your butt handed to you doesn't feel good. I look to him "she was looking for Shadow... from her reaction, i don't think she found him" Shadow? But he Fought me. Don't tell me she wants him to do it again.
"Well, knowing her, I don't think that she does believe it was actually Shadow. But I'm not sure about anything right now.."
"Can I get some explanation???" Stitch asks, confusion Glowing in her voice.
"Yeah sure. She's my... er- adopted sister. She's pretty attached to Shadow, he's her boyfriend after all." I laugh when I see Stitch get an 'ooh~' kind of look in her eyes. "But i think Violet told everyone here that Shadow was there when i was kidnapped"
"She did, and Nightly has semi-routinely been exploring, trying to find him, from what Ember has told us" when did she start? Might ask her later. But for now, I need to rest a bit. That fight kinda took a bit out of me. Stitch just looks back at me and nods before walking away.
A bit of a time skip
After i've recovered a bit, i wander about the base, finding Nightly still pacing with her arms crossed. Her tails are lashing, and i chuckle slightly, making her glance up at me, narrowing her eyes
"Do you need something?" she stops to be standing, staring at me.
"Just wanted to check if you're alri-" "Of Course not!" she bites, before groaning to herself
"My Partner, Possibly Life partner, is suspected to be Against us!" she swings an arm out, emphasising her point. Yeah. yeah i thought so.
"When did you start looking for him?" i ask, and she chuckles slightly
"A Week after you were kidnapped. Been looking every other day, at least i've tried" my eyebrows shoot up in surprise. Every other day looking for him, for Months?! You have more dedication that i expected from you. Impressive. "I'm growing more and more annoyed because i can't. Find. Him"
"Well... i wish you the best of luck finding him, Nightly, kinda hurts to see you this livid" she looks at me, and raises an eyebrow
"You sure that's not just from getting your butt handed to you, Again?" Ouch. i huff at her, before going back to recover fully.
Violet's POV
Getting all these people out of here is such a chore, but it's worth it! I best head back to Base to regroup with the resistance-
"The system is picking up a couple of strange readings. They're coming from the laboratory, the one where Sonic fought Infinite." Huh? That's Rouge's voice! And what kind of readings. I turn the volume louder for me to hear.
"It's probably another of Eggman's robots." Silver assumes. Hmm... it's possible...
"Life readings, two of them. Definitely not robots." Welp, that sorta helps...
"Hey rookie, go to the lab and check it out!" I hear Knuckles order. I roll my eyes and answer the radio.
"No need to call me Rookie, Commander! And i'll head that way." I put the radio back in my pocket and start making my way with my wiring gadget.
At the Jungle
"We've picked up two life readings near the lab up ahead." Amy states on the radio as i swing into the jungle area, dodging different bots and areas.
"If they aren't robots, what are they?" Knuckles asks, confused as ever.
"If they're enemies, taking them both on might be a big ask for Violet." Aww... Silver... Glad to know you care about me! I continue running before getting swept away by a weird current! Oh geez!
"Watch out! The current is pretty strong! This place is enough to make anyone dizzy. It might be better to just go with the flow." Amy advises. Yeah, I can tell... I'm the one RIDING the current! Suddenly some bots who also got swept up come up and start bumping into me! Crud! I try to position myself so I don't get hit by the bots as much. Suddenly, I see the end of the current and am able to jump off onto some dry land. Whew! I hear my radio beep as Amy's voice comes back on. "They sure went through a lot of trouble to make this lab hard to find."
"They must be doing experiments they don't want people to know about." Knuckles suggests, with the result of me rolling my eyes. That much is obvious, commander... I continue my way till I reach another strong current. Hm! I jump in and start going down, avoiding more bots that were swept up. "Well look at you, rookie. Having fun in the water?" Knuckles!!!
"What? Jealous you can't play on the slide, Knuckles?" I hold back laughter. Good one Amy!
"This is no time to lose focus, that's all. Uh, be sure to give it all you got, rookie!" I turn off the radio and continue to manoeuvre the current, avoiding sliding off into the water below. The end approaches and I'm launched off, catching myself with my wire.
"The readings are really close now. Reinforcements will arrive soon, so meet up with them." Amy suggests, just as I arrive at the lab. I guess I could just wait. Then, something glimmers on the ground. Hm? I go over and pick it up, revealing it's a jem of some kind. It then glows for a split second. Huh?! I continue to look it over before I hear footsteps approaching. Oh right! The two life forms! I look to where the footsteps are coming from, and I see- A smaller version of Sonic?! Lighter blue, black irises, dang! This Sonic is kinda... cute. I then hear another sound that's similar to propellers, and I see a face who I wasn't expecting to see! The two tailed yellow Fox known as Tails!
"Have we met before?" I don't know if we have.
"Whether we have or not, i can introduce myself at HQ" i smile, and he nods, leading Smaller Sonic and me back to Base. Once we get back, i see Sonic leaning against a wall, and Tails sees him just after i do, flying over to him, hugging his friend
"SONIC!" his voice Radiates with positivity
"Tails!" Sonic exclaims, happy and surprised.
"I was Sooooo worried! I thought you were..." his voice fades away, as he doesn't want to finish that thought, clearly... i don't want to either. Sonic chuckles, letting go of his friend,
"You worry too much. Look, i'm perfectly fine" his gaze lands on the shorter Sonic "ah, it's been generations since i've seen you. You ok?" he knows the shorter Sonic? The shorter one gives a thumbs up, and I can't see his face, but based on Sonic's reaction, he smiled as well.
"The good news is you're safe. The Bad news is Eggman said he has some plan that would destroy us all in three days!" I stiffen. Wait- wait what?!
"Three days, huh? A lot can happen in that time" I'll need your confidence, Sonic.
