Chapter 15

At the Eggman Empire Fortress

Sonic's POV

We are really in the Endgame now. All the resistance members are gathered to fight Eggman's army. Knuckles obviously leading the attack. He is the main commander after all. With a quick glance, i can see Violet, Nightly, and Stitch sticking together, and my sister is staring at me, her eyes reading a 'well?'. OK, impatient girl... i look to Knuckles, giving a nod, seeing him do the same, before raising his arm,

"Let's go!" he yells to prompt the charge, and i hear Mobians behind me yelling with their charge as i shoot forwards, tackling a Zavok replica. With a quick glance to check on my allies, Shadow seems to have collected a pile of replicas already, and i get to watch as Amy smashes a Metal Sonic replica- or a not-Metal as Nightly keeps calling it- with her Piko Piko Hammer. Rouge also joins the effort, kicking two replicas of Shadow and Metal. Hm! We continue making our way through till I notice Infinite above looking down on us. I speed up ahead of the group, and it appears Infinite is doing the same.

"Hey, Infinite! Long time no see! Did you miss me?" he looks to me

"Why yes, i did" d'aw, haha! "I've been looking forward to finishing you and your annoying friends." he opens his arms, pushing us all back with a force that nearly knocks me off my feet. "I trust you're all ready for oblivion? If you're not... oh well-" the sound of blasts makes him stop, and he gets hit, before managing to deflect a few. I glance to the source, seeing Omega "What?! Who Dares!?" Omega lands, refocusing his aim at Infinite

"Target reconfirmed. Extermination mode initiated. Payback INEVITABLE."

"Omega! You've joined us?! Awesome!" Rouge cheers

"Is there no end to these annoying insects? I will burn your resistance to ashes, and you along with it!" His voice is furious as he shoots a beam into the sky, and the brightness that appears causes me to blink to try and adjust. Once i have, i look up, and my jaw falls slack. That's the Sun.

"Whoa, you've got to be kidding. That's just a special effect, right?" Knuckles yelps.

"No, it's not! While we're under the Phantom Ruby's control, it's a part of our reality!" Tails informs him.

"Unbelievable! What chance do we have against that?!" I... I don't know, Espio. I watch as Eggman comes by

"The sun will fall upon you all. BOOM! THE END! Your pathetic lives are over"

"This is your reality, Too, Eggface!" Nightly yells out, "You're going to burn to a crisp along with us!" Eggman glares at her, before sticking his tongue out, and flies off.

Stitch's POV

'This isn't good... There is a massive sun way too close to the earth... and Eggman is intending on destroying us with it?! I feel like I'm gonna fall over. I put a hand to my head. Yeah... headaches are definitely connected to this power. I glance at Violet and Nightly, who are looking up at the sun. And out of the corner of my eye, I see something glow in Violet's hand. Huh? I notice Tails fly over to her, clearly having noticed the glowing as well. Eh?

"Look!" that catches Violet's attention, her horrified expression blinking away when he points to the prototype Phantom Ruby. "it's reacting. Eggman said something about the Phantom Ruby prototypes... let me see" Violet hands the jewel to him, which stops glowing "Whoa, it is" he passes it back to her "he said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who activated it. That must be you, Violet! Your courage and Heroism are probably what triggered it! Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear." Violet considers his words, staring at him, before looking back at the prototype, then up at the sun, before running off, towards a tower. I yelp in alarm, catching Nightly's attention as well.

"What?" she notices Violet's absence, sees that she's running off, and goes silent, giving a sigh. "Tails, please tell me you're not just running on hope here?" She watches for his reaction, and I do as well, seeing him scratching his head a tiny bit.

"It's... a very well estimated one" i glance back to Nightly seeing that she raised an eyebrow, before she shakes her head and runs off, to destroy more Badniks and fakes.

"Grrr... we made it so far. We were so close" i hear Knuckles growling, annoyed

"This is truly world-shattering" the one... who i think is named Espio comments.

"Grrrrawwrrr... isn't there anything we can do?" Vector also growls, and i hiss under my breath, before running to join Nightly with destroying the opponents.

Violet's POV

I'm jumping up the building, stuck listening to the others through the radio

"Maybe we need to fight fire with fire. If you can get close enough to that sun, the prototype should cancel out the effect!" Tails exclaims

"She's running on a Maybe!" Nightly protests

"You'll be burnt to a crisp before then! Give it up, rookie! Fall back!" Knuckles orders, but i stay firm in what i'm doing. I'm already too far in to retreat. After climbing up a wall, i stare up at the sun for a second

"It's all up to the rookie now." Silver says, and i can almost guess his breath is shaky.

"The chances of success are miniscule. It's a desperate long shot" i can hear Nightly protesting through his radio, it almost makes me laugh.

"Please, come back in one piece!" Amy pleas to me. I'll try, Amy. i shoot and hook onto a flying robot and leap onto a ledge, my heart stopping when i almost fell off. I stabilise myself, my breathing quick and shaky. I glance around, trying to find where the next highest location from here is, and calm myself down, before hooking somewhere over there, and hop off, yanking myself over, grabbing the edge and pulling myself up. I hear my radio static out before hearing maniacal laughter. Shoot!

"Mwa-ha ha! You think you can stop the sun? You'll burn up like a moth drawn to a flame. It's over!" I ignore Eggman's discouraging words as the radio statics out again before Knuckles' voice comes on.

"You're a real soldier now, rookie. You can do this!" I continue running, now realising a giant laser beam fires down behind me, inching towards me with every second. I make it closer to the top of the main tower with my life on the line. I take a breath, flinching downwards to dodge a blast from a Badnik. I growl at it, before climbing up more

"Hang in there a bit longer!" sure Amy, it's not like i'm risking my fur setting on fire for you guys!

"Show everyone what you're made of!" Vector exclaims

"C'mon, you can make it!" Knuckles cheers, and I can almost hear the cheers of encouragement from the rest of the army from out here. I glance down at them... they're Tiny from up here! I look up to see Infinite, and I can Juuuuust hear him.

"Make peace with your fate, because your lives are now over!" I rolled my eyes, looking down at the ruby in my palm, glowing after reacting to something I did... apparently. I glance up to the sun again, getting closer and closer. I flick my ears to hear Eggman acting like he won. I growl, firing my wire at the sun, latching onto something, and pulling myself towards it, feeling the temperature rise. I hold up the Ruby in my hand and close my eyes, similar to when I fought Infinite. I can hear mad cackling in the distance... Eggface... ugh. Soon I'm Coated in warmth. Come on, come on WORK. I have my eyes squeezed shut as it's Way too bright now for me to see... ironically. After a second, I hear a strange noise, I feel myself falling and then I hear cheering from below. I aim my wire back at the tower and swing myself to safety. I feel so tired... Once I feel my feet on the ground, I hear a light clattering, but I'm too tired to care, seconds before i would've collapsed, i'm scooped up into a hug. I blink, soon realising who it is. Sonic. I feel my face heat up, but I smile, losing the last of my strength as I collapse into his body.
