Chapter nineteen

A high pitched ringing deafened his ears.Glass shattered everywhere from the windows.Tommy stumbled but stood back up,his breathing ragged,heavy.

His heart dropped when he saw her car in flames.He ran on his feet as fast as he could.Tommy ran downstairs to see a few kids on the ground

He rushed to them and picked them up

"You're okay!it's okay nothing happened it's okay!"he ran to the other kid and helped that kid up.But then Tommy saw a kid lying away,blood smeared on his face

"Fuck"he breathed and tapped the boys cheek.Tommy immediately thought about Ruth and looked around for her

His heart was sinking by the second.His body was trembling with fear.Tommy looked around desperately and just then he saw a hand peeping from behind the car

"No no no no"he mumbled and ran to her.Tommy fell down on his knees beside her.He picked her up and held her body to his chest hugging it tightly

"Wake up Ruth wake up please!"he tapped her cheek.She looked so pale.She had blood on her face,her clothes everywhere.Tommy's eyes watered with tears.

A woman walked out in panic and stared at them both with shock

"CALL AN AMBULANCE NOW!!!!"he shouted.The woman ran inside her house to place the call while Tommy hugged Ruth close to him.

Things were starting to hit him again.He was reliving this moment.This exact moment that he had seen in his dreams.What happened to his ex wife.

Ruth's body was lying limp in his arms while he sobbed and screamed trying to wake her up.He sat alone on the sidewalk holding her tightly in his arms while he waited for the ambulance

When he felt like there wasn't much time left for her,he picked her up and ran to his car backed on the other side of the building.

Ruth looked like a ghost,her fire,her glow was all pale now.Tommy mumbled a few words under his breath like he was praying to god?

He opened his car door and placed her inside very carefully.The woman came out of his office

"The ambulance is coming Mr shelby!"she shouted from far away.

"There's no fucking time!Just take the kids and get them to the hospital and call moss!CALL ANYONE!!"he shouted before jumping inside hastily and driving away from there

He kept looking at Ruth.His stomach was turning like a dark power was taking over him and all the good he had left in him

The phone rang in urgency,Arthur was right beside and picked it up

"Who is it?"he gruffly asked.

"Mr Shelby there's been an accident!Sir asked me to tell you to come to the hospital there's been a blast!And Miss Ruth is injured!"the woman said in a panicked and scared voice

Arthur dropped the phone,grabbed his gun and rushed out.He grabbed his car keys and jumped inside to go to the hospital

The phone rang again.Polly was in the living room smoking on the couch.She sighed and hot up picking up the phone

"Hello?"

"Mrs gray there's been an accident!Miss Ruth was injured and Mr Shelby is at the hospital!"

"Fuck"polly cursed and put down the phone.She grabbed her coat and ran out.

"Ruth stay with me please!"he shouted.Ruth could only hear his voice.She couldn't open her eyes or even move herself.
