Chapter eight

Tommy helped her back inside the house.Ruth excused herself to go freshen up.Tommy nodded and let her be.He sat down on a chair in the lobby and leaned back on the chair

He closed his eyes sighing in content.He could feel her touch lingering on him still.His coat smelled like her.Tommy didn't mind it instead he took a soft sniff

Ruth closed the door to her room and walked in the tub.She let the warm water sink her in.She leaned her head back and looked up at the well decorated ceiling

Her stomach jumped with butterflies at the thought of their kiss.

She took her time to get ready and got down the stairs to see Tommy sitting on a chair in the lobby,near the fireplace

Tommy heard the sound of heels clicking.He opened his eyes and looked at her to see she was holding her briefcase and coat ready to leave

"You're leaving"he stood up from his chair immediately and walked up to her.Ruth smiled a little seeing how bummed she looked

"Well you said I had the permission to leave first thing in the morning.Can't go against your word Tommy"he sighed in disappointment.

Even ruth looked a little disappointed at her leave but she had to go.

"Come on"Ruth and Tommy walked out of the house.Since Ruth didn't bring her own car Tommy offered her his own

"How do I get the car back?"she put her briefcase in the back seat and closed the door

"Just give it to Arthur back home.I'll come there tomorrow"Ruth sighed nodding in approval.She looked at Tommy and he stared at her

His eyes glanced at her lips then back to her eyes.Within seconds he sneaked his hand to her waist and pulled her to him catching her by surprise

Tommy didn't say anything and just kissed her on her lips softly.She closed her eyes and let him do whatever he wanted.

Tommy stroked her cheek softly and pulled away.He smiled down at her seeing the surprise on her face

"Have a safe drive Ruth"he whispered in the softest way imaginable.Ruth nodded and pulled away.She opened the car door and sat down inside taking a last glimpse at him.

"See you soon tommy"was all she said before she started the car and drove off.Ruth saw Tommy's figure from the rear view mirror, still standing at the same place watching her leave.

One day would change their whole life

Tommy as promised came back to small Heath with his son along with him.He decided to visit Ruth first instead of going back home.

Tommy knew where her house was so he was driving directly to her house.

The gates to her house opened when the guards saw him.Tommy parked his car in the gravel driveway and got out of his car carrying his son with him.

Ruth's housemaid saw Tommy outside from the window.Ruth had told her all about him.She quickly opened the door and rushed to him

"Good-morning Mr Shelby.I'm Emily Ruth's housemaid"she bowed her head a little.Tommy nodded and carefully handed her his son.

He didn't trust the woman but he trusted Ruth.

"Where is she?"he cleared his throat seeing that his son was not complaining in the middle aged woman's hands

"In the back garden.Please follow me"

Gravel stones crushed under his feet.When Tommy saw the garden,he couldn't see her anywhere yet he only saw a table with whiskey and glasses and her coat hanging on a chair
