Chapter twenty one

Tommy was leaving for Paris today.He had a meeting at the parliament there.Of course he was an OBE,he was needed there.

He would be there for quite some time.So yes everyone was bummed.But Ruth wasn't feeling quite good

She was happy he was growing the name of his party but at the same time she couldn't let him go away and not see him for such a time

Plus on the other hand she wasn't feeling quite well.But she didn't tell Tommy anything because she knew he would get worried

He was standing outside his house and everyone was standing on the doorstep to bid him goodbye.

Tommy lighted himself a cigarette and then turned to them

"Alright everyone I'll see you all soon.Arthur will be incharge with Polly until I'm back.Johnny dogs and uncle Charlie will be taking care of all the men in me group.Moss will be with you too and Ruth.."he paused and stared at her.Ruth walked forward from all of them and stood in front of him

Everyone took the hint and bid Tommy goodbye leaving them both alone.Tommy threw away his cigarette and sighed

"Look-

"It's alright tommy"she interrupted and cupped his cheek with her hand.Tommy didn't say anything and just looked into her eyes

"I know that you need to go and I'm beyond happy.Besides you'll be back in a few months so....I'll manage.I'll be taking care of business and everything and I'll be at your horse taking care of Charlie alright?"

Tommy couldn't help but feel how loving she was towards Charlie and that she was ready to take care of him

"I'll miss you a lot"Tommy sighed leaning his forehead on hers.Ruth closed her eyes and stroked his cheek

"I would too"she smiled sadly.Tommy kissed her lips one last time before he got into the car and started it

Ruth smiled and waved at him slowly until he was out of sight.He just looked at her once before he drove off

She sighed softly and walked back inside the house

It had been less than two weeks since he was gone and Ruth already missed him so much.His touch,his words,his presence.So to keep herself busy she threw into work

She kept herself busy by going to a thousand meetings a day and doing lots and lots of work.Although even that was starting to get difficult because she wasn't well

She was currently visiting polly at her house for a drink at night and Ada was staying as well.

"Ruth have you got any rest for the past days.Why are you working so much?"ada asked seeing how ruth was pacing around the room

"Cause I fucking miss him!Is this what it was like when I used to go back home and he used to be here alone?"

"You bet it was like that"polly scoffed

"Yeah Tommy wouldn't get any sleep for days and would just be working for hours like a fucking madman!"polly complained.Ruth shook her head and rubbed her temples

"Why did I have to fall in love?"polly chuckled and sighed

"If only it was in our hands"she said.Ruth suddenly felt like a weight was put on her chest.She started to feel breathless and uneasy and Polly and Ada both noticed
