She looked at the mother who nodded with a soft smile, wanting to encourage her and reassure her. Hobi was now standing next to Olivia, eagerly waiting for her to open the door. She took a deep breath and opened the door. She gasped.
-Dad?!, frowned Olivia, not thinking twice and rushing up to him, hugging him.
He groaned and chuckled, hugging his daughter back.
-Hi Livie., smiled the father, rubbing her back gently as he tightened the hug.
-What are you doing here?, asked the brunette, now pulling away from the hug.
-Are you not happy to see me?, joked the father.
-Yes, I am happy. But isn't it too soon for you to be out already?, frowned Olivia.
-Nope. I have to go to the hospital once a week and a nurse will come by the house every three days to change my bandage for the three next weeks., smiled Olivia's dad.
-Come on in., chuckled Vanessa, Emily's mother.
-Oh no, I don't want to bother you., said the father.
-I insist., replied Vanessa.
-I'm sorry about Emily. I heard what happened. Have they found her yet?, asked Martin with a worried expression.
-No. Not yet., sighed the mother, walking back to her couch and tea.
-Oh. I'm sorry. I was actually planning on surprising you with Emily's help but then I heard what going on and I immediately made my way here., admitted the father, looking at his daughter.
-She knew?, frowned Olivia.
-Yes. She wanted to prepare a dinner for the two of us so we could catch up a little., explained Martin as he sat down on the couch next to Olivia.
Olivia looked down at her hands, trying to hold herself back from crying again. She needed to find her girlfriend. She sighed.
-Dad, now that you're back home...is it okay if I stay here until we find Emily? And after as well, because she got shot twice and I wanna be there for her as much as she was there for me., said the girl, looking up at her dad now, tears in her eyes.
-Yeah. Of course. If that's okay with Vanessa., said Martin, looking at his neighbor.
-Oh yes. No worries. You can stay as long as you want., reassured the mother.
Then Emily's mom got a message.
-It's Teddy., said Vanessa as she looked at her phone.
Something strange is going on. They won't tell me what's going home and refuse to let me help them look for Emmy. They're sending me home and are going to send some officers with me. I don't understand.
Olivia frowned as Vanessa showed her the message.
-What on earth does that mean?, said Vanessa worried.
-I don't know, but I don't like that., replied Olivia getting up from the couch.
That's when Hobi heard something in the garden. He didn't bark, he simply walked to the back door, his tailing shaking. He scratched the door a few times.
-Hobi, now is not the time for a walk., said Vanessa, trying to understand her husband's message.
Hobi kept on scratching the door. The mother sighed.
-Can you let him go outside to the garden please?, said the mom as she kept staring at her phone.
Martin knew that she meant Olivia, but they were both too busy worrying about Emily, which he most certainly understood. He walked to the back door and opened it. Hobi ran outside into the dark. Martin could hear him whining, so he turned the lights on from the garden. His eyes went wide.
-Emily., said Martin as he rushed up to her.
He helped her up to her feet, Emily not really being fully conscious. Martin lead her back to the house and closed the door, Hobi following them back inside.
-Why did you let him back in- Oh my god!, yelled the woman as she turned around to look at Martin.
Olivia startled as the mother raised her voice and immediately turned around, seeing her soaked, hurt and bleeding girlfriend.
-Holy shit., whispered Olivia, getting up and walking over to Martin.
Together, they lead her to the couch and helped her sit down.
-Stay still. I'll call an ambulance., said Martin as he grabbed his phone.
-N-No!, yelled Emily as she groaned.
-Now is not the time to be stubborn., argued Olivia.
-You don't understand. They- The police is after me!, said Emily angrily.
-What? What do you mean? That's absurd., frowned Vanessa.
-No, I swear. They're after me. I heard them- I heard them in the forrest as they were looking for me. They got a call from the chief of the police that they should arrest me and if needed with force., explained Emily as quickly as possible.
-But why? You didn't do anything wrong, Em. Right?, said Olivia, now suddenly unsure on what's going on.
-No, I didn't do anything wrong., replied Emily, looking at her girlfriend.
-We need to hide her until we find out what's going on. Teddy is on his way home and he said that two officers are being send along., explained Vanessa as she looked at her daughter who was obviously in pain.
-Mom, if you hide me, you could get in trouble., replied Emily.
-I just don't understand why they're after you., frowned Olivia.
Then there was a knock at the door. Olivia walked up to the door, opening it quickly.
-Sofia? What are you doing here?, frowned Olivia.
-They're after Emily., said the brunette quickly as she walked in with her laptop in her hands.
-Yeah, we know., replied Emily.
-Oh. You're okay., smiled Sofia relieved.
-For now., sighed the older brunette.
-What are you doing here Sofia? And how did you know where to find us?, asked Olivia.
-I hacked your phone., replied the younger girl as she sat down on the couch, the laptop still in her hands.
-What the f-, started Olivia.
-I know why they're after you., started Sofia suddenly.
Everyone got quiet.
-Why?, asked Emily, wanting to know why the police suddenly decided that she was the bad guy for being shot and forced to jump off the bridge.
-The chief of the police. Chief Pratt., explained Sofia.
-Why would he be the problem?, frowned Emily, not understanding.
-Chief Pratt. Justin...Pratt., realized Olivia as she put the pieces together.
They then heard a few cars pull up.
