Another month has past, and I was making sure that Jotaro stayed on the right foot. I had been watching his back the best I could, but how could I when he was off to his Marine Biologist Trips again?

So far, everything has been stable with the arrows. I haven't heard anything bad about it. In fact, I haven't helped him in any stand business in a while. No, I haven't worked with him in a while. Maybe that was why he was going on his Marine trips when he could. (A/n: See chapter Future and Past from Remember Us cuz oof)

It worried me when he left, because what if he decides to actually take his own life...?

I didn't want to be conceded and say he had someone to look forward to: me. That was a bold and dangerous assumption. Either way, I made sure to call every night. Distracting him from reality and making sure he didn't think about too much seemed like the only way to go.

I decided to go down into town after taking care of some Speedwagon Foundation business. I was in a grocery store, trying to fix up something good for Jotaro for when he came back.

I was in a grocery store when I heard a teenager complain about whatever a teenage girl complain about. I may not have understood, but she was loud.

I groaned as I glanced to my left of the source of the noise.

I froze.

That girl was with her mother. She had a mixture of green and black hair. The girl should be 14 by now.

That was Jolyne and her mother.

I quickly turned my back to them.

That was Jotaro's family. The ones he hasn't seen in years. And now here I was in their vicinity.

I had to get out of there quick. I knew that Jotaro didn't want to see them for a reason. We were stand users, and that could possibly put them in danger. And there was no way he would want me to see them!

What were they even doing here?! I purposely avoided going to any stores in the direction, or even 20km, of their house!

I left the aisle to go to a line. My heart thudded in my chest heavily. The last thing I needed was for them to get caught up in any stand business.

But wow, his daughter was beautiful. She was growing up into a young lady. She had this stern expression similar to his. You could tell that she was his daughter.

Jotaro had to miss this.

Soon I was through the line and out of the store. I kept the fact I saw them with me. I wasn't sure if Jotaro wanted to even know I saw them.

When I arrived home, Jotaro was in the bedroom unpacking.

I came up behind him and wrapped my arms his waist. "Welcome home, Jotaro. How was the trip?"

He answered, "Eventful." He turned in my arms and gave me a kiss. "Let's go to the beach."

I chuckled, "Do you ever get tired of the water?"

"Only when I'm not with you," he replied. "Come on."

I grabbed his hand before he pulled me to the beach.

He took his shoes off, so I followed suit. I followed him into the water until it reached my knees. He didn't bother to roll up his pants.

It was so calm outside. The wind blew gently. The sun was high in the sky covered by few clouds.

Jotaro stared out into the horizon and breathed in the salty air. He glanced down at me and reached out to my hand.

I met him halfway and grabbed it.

Then he pulled me to him. He didn't say a word, but his expression said it all. He was comfortable and at peace. He took a huge breath in and out. His arms around my waist began swaying me side to side.

I closed my eyes as I enveloped myself in his warmth in the fresh, cooling air.

His arms were big around me.

He was home, and he was at peace.

I laid my head on his shoulder. "What got you like this?"

"I just want to be with you," he managed to say. "It's been so long."

I said, "It's the usual amount of time you stay away though."

He said, "Each time felt longer than the other."

"Oh," I said understanding him. It wasn't easy being away from the one you love. It wasn't easy for me either. I may have gotten used to it, but it doesn't mean it got easier.

He didn't stop swaying me in his arms. He held me tightly in his arms, so I tightened my grip as well.

I hummed. "This is nice."

The only sounds in my ears were the waves, breeze and seagulls flying by.

"Yeah," he whispered back.

We stood in the water in each other's arms for a bit until he said, "I'm ready to go back inside."

"Alright."

We went back inside. We even didn't want to separate from each other. It was more like, he was the clinging one, but I still invited it, so I was just as guilty.

We got into bath together. He was a big man, so he got in first. I sat with my back against him. More calm moments in water. Bubbles included.

He was quite touchy, literally. His hands roamed over my thighs gently. Then he used a bit more pressure as if to massage them. He chuckled, "You're a bit tense."

"Yeah," I said leaning back on him. "I've been waiting for you to come back and now I have you." I relaxed my body into his.

He said, "I don't think I ever want to stay away from you again. You're all I need."

I cackled, "You're so clingy today!" I grabbed his hands and held them tight. "I'm okay with it, but you are so adorable."

He didn't say anything. He just relished the closeness and comfort he felt with me.

I loved these quiet moments with him. They were always perfect.

When the next day came around, we were back to work at the Speedwagon Foundation. It was normal amount of research and science stuff. I didn't do much work with the arrows anymore. I could see this as a good thing because it may mean that there was not many problems anymore.

The thought occurred to me that maybe I could tell him about me seeing Jolyne and her mother. But it seemed like a bad idea. If he didn't go see them himself, maybe he was still trying to keep them safe.

Some things are best left hidden.

I was carrying stacks of boxes down the hallway.

"Let me help you," I heard Jotaro's voice say.

"Hm?"

Suddenly, my load was lighter as Jotaro took a box from my stack. He came from behind me. "Hi, sweetheart."

"Hi, hun," I greeted as if we didn't come to work together. "Thank you." It was nice seeing him when we didn't work together much anymore.

He followed me to the room I needed to place the boxes. We sat them down in a corner.

"Thank you very much," I got on my tiptoes and kissed him on the nose.

He exhaled something of a laugh and hid his eyes with his hat. I could still see his face redden. He was so precious.

Yeah, this was the best choice. This was the only way to protect our own safe place. He didn't need to know I saw his daughter and ex.

I'll just make sure it doesn't happen again.
