The R-Word Rant

This is a bit personal since I was super sensitive to the word when I wrote it, but I don't feel that anymore and maybe I throw it around a bit more than I should these days...

~~~~~
im gonna rant about the r word now because i feel like it. Ok i feel like everyone knows already i fucking hate the r word, i hate seeing people use it against people, i hate hearing it in non-discriminatory contexts, i hate hearing people who reclaim it say it and i hate saying it myself even though i reclaim it.
still, i don't really like... calling it a slur? I know a lot of people don't really think about this and just call it the r slur instead of the r word because other people do and i honestly don't care about it. I just feel like its so different. It's not something i really care about changing i just feel like i need to say this.
As i said before i think it's totally different because of the origin. The n word, for example, was never a respectful and harmless way of addressing a black person. It was always just a bad and offensive word used badly and offensively. It was born a slur, if you know what i mean. Just like the f slur and the t slur and so on and so on.
The r word on the other hand, was just made as medical term. (I don't wanna say diagnosis because im not sure that it's one), it was just made to define an intellectual disability. It was so harmless to begin with and it's just, over time, been so widely used as a slur. To the point that so many people never even understood that to begin with it was simply a medical term and not an insult.
I, myself also believed it was a simple insult and used it against people as a mindless insult when i was way younger than i am now.
Point is, i think that's hella sad. That a word like that, that's clearly well.. serious, because it obviously is used in the way it is because it's used to describe a mentally disabled person, and mentally disabled people are unfortunately discriminated against. It makes me sad that it turned out the way it did, basically.
