Whenever confronted by beauty, like a rose
or the soft enchanting gaze of a lovely lady
there are feelings deep down that no one knows
as my heart becomes a cell, and I the detainee.

I've fallen in love many times, almost every day
when I lock eyes, or even smile at a pretty face.
Most times I am terrified, unsure of what to say
cowardice ruining any chance of warm embrace.

And days when I do speak, sometimes it's alright
as I make overtures and attempt to break the ice.
Some days words come easy, others can be a fight
for I continue the long search for my lost paradise.

One day I shall find her, or she might discover me
someone to grow old with and share a cup of tea.
