Ding. The sound of a small charm or ring cut off the ambient noise upon the airplane. Maya Yotsuba turned away from the window she was looking out, in order to listen to the flight attendant's words.
Flight Attendant: "We will be landing shortly; if you have not already, please fasten your seatbelts. We would also ask that you please refrain from leaving your seat while we are landing. Once again, we will be landing shortly. Please fasten your seatbelts and remain in your seat until we have landed. Thank you for flying with Dragon and Phoenix Private Jetline Service."
Maya gave the Flight Attendant a curt nod. She then looked to her left, to find her bodyguard asleep. In any other case, this would be extremely irresponsible for a bodyguard to do, but Maya didn't seem to mind and lightly jiggled his arm to wake him.
The bodyguard woke with a little mumble. His sunglasses threatened to fall off his face, but Maya gently adjusted them. After making sure the flight attendant's back was turned, Maya drew near and whispered into the bodyguard's ear.
Maya: "Wake up, darling. We're landing soon."
Ryuga: "Mm."
Of course, this bodyguard was none other than Ryuga Shinsokai in disguise. He grunted a little and sat up straight. Maya, upon realizing what was running down Ryuga's face, quickly grabbed a handkerchief.
Maya: "Why are you crying, my love?"
She dabbed at his cheeks, letting the cloth absorb his tears. Even with his dark shades on, she could tell he looked perplexed.
Ryuga: "I... Think I dreamt of my mother."
Maya: "Oh dear, what was it about?"
Ryuga: "I'm not sure... I think she was trying to tell me something."
Maya: "Hmm... Maybe she's cheering you on?"
Ryuga: "What?"
Maya: "What we're going to do. Maybe she's cheering for you."
Ryuga gave a light chuckle as he adjusted his suit.
Ryuga: "I'm not so sure, but let's go with that."
Maya: "Well anyway, we're going to land soon. I've already arranged for a driver to take us to a nice hotel. There, we can unpack our things and start formulating a plan."
Ryuga: "Thank you. Still, I'm quite surprised that everyone just let you go to China with only one guard."
Maya: "Fufufu, I didn't give them a choice."
As they continued talking, the plane slowly descended and landed properly. The pilot came out of the cockpit and walked up to the pair.
Pilot: "It was an honor to pilot for the esteemed Maya Yotsuba. I hope everything was to your pleasure?"
Maya: "Yes, it was pleasant. Well done."
The pilot started to stutter at her small compliment.
Pilot: "I-I'm glad you enjoyed it!"
He bowed his head in a flustered gesture. The flight attendant also bowed, although she had more grace.
Pilot: "Please remember us if you need a flight again."
Maya: "Of course. In fact, for my return to Japan, I plan to use your services again."
Pilot: "T-Thank you, ma'am. If I may ask, how long will you be staying in China? If you'd like, we can schedule your flight now."
Maya: "That won't be necessary. I'll make sure to set a date when we are ready to leave."
She skillfully evaded the question, proving that she wasn't head of the clan for nothing.
