Chapter 11: The Viper Team's Triumph

Finally, the day has arrived. It was the final match for Monolith Code, First High against Third High. The Viper Team was inside the First High tent, inspecting the cloaks that Tatsuya gave them. He, apparently, inscribed magic circles onto the cloaks, to help with the user's affinity, or something like that. Basically, it helped Leo's reinforcement and Ryuga's stealth. Ryuga didn't think too much of it, since any advantage would be needed for this fight, but Leo wasn't a fan of the cloaks.

Leo: "So this will help to nullify the effects of Cardinal George's Invisible Bullet?"

Tatsuya: "Hopefully."

Leo: "Gee, thanks for that assurance." He looked kind of let down, and Ryuga put his arm around him.

Ryuga: "Now, now, don't mind! If it's made by Tatsuya, then it must be effective."

Leo: "Yeah... You're probably right."

Not too long after he said that, Mayumi walked in and addressed Tatsuya. She had a little bit of a worried look on her face.

Mayumi: "Tatsuya, you know the map is open plains right?"

Tatsuya: "Yes."

Mayumi: "You'll have to take on Ichijou, who's forte is bombardment on an open field with no cover. Will you be all right?"

Tatsuya: "It will be fine. If I need any assistance, my teammates can back me up. After all, it's an open map."

Ryuga swore he saw him smirk, but Ryuga paid it no mind. The team gathered and huddled together, Leo was the first to talk.

Leo: "No matter what happens, we take it with pride."

Ryuga: "Of course, however, winning won't be easy."

Tatsuya: "It certainly won't."

Leo: "Even if we lose, we still stand strong, okay?"

Ryuga: "Don't worry Leo. I only said it won't be easy, I didn't say it won't be possible."

Leo: "Oh? Do you have a plan?"

Ryuga: "Of course not, like Tatsuya said, it will be an open brawl."

Tatsuya: "Yes. Back each other up if needed, but besides that, try to keep it into a 1v1. We wouldn't want one of our members getting pressured by two enemies, especially with a team like them."

Leo: "Yeah! Got it! Let's go kick their asses!"

Ryuga: "I'd be happy to."

Tatsuya: "Yeah."

The wind blew quietly over the grass of the plains. The clouds danced along the blue sky, and the sun bore down on the grassy field. The tournament blimp flew around the arena, showing the competitors. Erika was laughing her ass off when she saw what Ryuga and Leo were wearing. The black coats made sure to flutter in the suttle wind. 

Ryuga: "If I had to put it optimistically, I think we look like those old-time vampires."

Leo: "Yeah... But that's optimistically. I never knew you were one, an optimist, that is."

Ryuga: "I'm not. Of course, realistically speaking, we look even more handsome with these on."

Leo: "... Just what is your definition of handsome?"

Ryuga: "Hmm, fair point."

Tatsuya: "You should use them as I explained earlier."

Leo: "Yeah, but... Why aren't you wearing one?"
