Chapter 14: The Dawn of a New Threat

Ryuga: "So? You're saying Tatsuya's computer was hacked?"

Miyuki: "That's right! To think someone could actually hack into big brother's computer... That's terrifying. It wasn't you, was it?"

Ryuga shook his head and took another sip of tea. He and Miyuki were sitting across from each other, drinking tea and talking about the current events. 

Ryuga: "Did he lose any important data?"

Miyuki: "No."

Ryuga: "Well, what do you think the hackers wanted?"

Miyuki: "I don't know; you'd have to ask my brother about that."

Ryuga: "I'm asking you. What do you think they wanted?"

Miyuki looked uncomfortable answering since she knew she wasn't as smart as her brother, but she mustered up the courage to answer in a cute, questioning way.

Miyuki: "Well, uh, given the time of the hacking... It's possible that they wanted to get information... on the thesis competition?" She trailed off as she said the last part.

Ryuga: "That's a good hypothesis. It could very well be the reason they did it."

Miyuki: "Really!?" She looked surprised, and her smile stretched to her cheeks.

Ryuga: "Of course. You know, you should really give yourself more credit. Even though you may not match Tatsuya in smarts, you're actually pretty intelligent yourself."

Miyuki: "Hearing that from you really pleases me, thanks!"

Just after she said that, Tatsuya walked up to them and pat Miyuki's shoulder.

Tatsuya: "I'm finished up with the meeting. Thanks for spending time with Miyuki, Ryuga."

Ryuga: "Don't sweat it; I love spending time with cute girls."

Tatsuya: "Right, of course. Anyway, Ms. Wantanabe wanted us, members of the competition to have our own bodyguards.  Would you care to be mine?"

Ryuga: "I don't think that's necessary."

Tatsuya: "Neither do I, but she was persistent."

Ryuga stood up and let out a breath of air before nodding to Tatsuya.

Ryuga: "Sure, it wouldn't be much different from what we do normally."

Miyuki also stood up and clasped her hands together with a smile of glee on her face.

Miyuki: "Great, that means we can spend more time with our friend!"

With that, they walked with Kei and Kanon to a store for some small-time shopping. While Kei and Kanon were inside, Tatsuya noticed someone watching them, and was about to smite them, before Ryuga grabbed his arm.

Ryuga: "Relax. They're just watching us, for now at least."

Tatsuya lowered his hand and Ryuga sighed.

Ryuga: "You should really control your trigger finger."

Tatsuya: "I don't want to hear that from you."

Ryuga: "Haha, got me there."

Ryuga and Tatsuya looked over their shoulders at the figure, who was just leaving. Not long after that, Kanon and Kei came out of the store, and everyone went home for the night.

After school, the next day, the usual group were heading towards the cafe, as Ryuga and Tatsuya noticed a different presence tailing them from yesterday. They nodded to each other, and Tatsuya asked if the group wanted to stop at a cafe. After getting the approval from everyone, they went inside.
