Hope sat down on the couch, her legs tucked underneath a woollen blanket, her chestnut hair lying down on her chest, her body felt limp after a day of nothing but cleaning, her head nestled against a pillow, her eyes heavy, she wanted to sleep, cuddle underneath the warmth of this blanket and drift off into an endless slumber,
And the moon hasn't even risen yet, the sky was still a warm orange, Hope sighed as she felt the light sunrays warm up her face,
Just a few feet away from her, was her husband, Lyall Lupin, his greying hair greasy as it lay in strands across his sweaty, clammy forehead, his eyes were wide and fixed, Hope had noticed that ever since Remus had gone missing, (she still didn't want to believe he had died), Lyall seemed to be a lot more...tense then usual, like every movement he made was forced, or programmed, he walked with a straighter back, his voice was more tense, more controlled, Hope wasn't really sure whether Lyall was aware of this too,
Lyall was rigid and tense, his hand on his mouth as his fixed eyes were skimming over the newspaper,
Hope didn't make an effort to talk to him, happy and enjoyable times with Lyall were hard to experience after Remus went missing,
So, for the next few minutes, they were silent, the only sound to be heard was the papers turning in the newspaper, the birds chirping as the trees rustled, Hope pulled the blanket to her chest as the sun sunk deeper and deeper, she watched as the warm, orange sky turned black,
Everything was peaceful, she thought, the air still and quiet,
Until something pierced that silence
"HELP"
The voice was faint, but, it was still loud, and the word still bounced and replayed in Hope's mind,
It was a high-pitched scream, a piercing one, the screams that make you sit up straight, with your heart racing and your palms sweaty, that makes every hair on your body stand up,
"HEL-"
And the voice cut off,
it was when the second voice came that a sinking realization came to Hope,
This was a child's voice,
"You heard that, right?" Hope rushed, her mouth dry as she tried to calm her racing heart,
Lyall, whose eyes had grown wider and who was sitting up straighter, the newspaper lying down on the carpet, nodded his head,
"Well, we have to see-" but, Hope was cut off by a Lyall shaking his head,
"No, it was probably just some kids playing outside," He said, rubbing the bridge of his nose,
"At this hour?"
Lyall just shrugged his shoulders,
Hope sighed, shifting on the couch in discomfort, maybe it was just some kids, but, she couldn't get rid of this nudge that it wasn't just some kids playing around,
That was until, Hope heard the banging and...whimpering,
And every time something banged, Hope would wince, her heart would race faster and she would take in another shaky breath,
"Lyall, I think we should-" she tried to say, her voice cracking as she pulled the blanket around her tighter, but, Lyall had already gotten up, his face tense and pale, his lips in one thin straight line as he pulled his long, wooden wand from his pocket and went out of the backdoor,
Then, the rest was a blur,
All Hope could remember, was a bunch of angry shouts from Lyall, whimpering and growling as flashes of light flashed by Hopes eyes, all while she gripped the blanket with her two, sweaty hands,
