It took a lot of time to get used to. To finally feel comfortable in this household. To feel like he belonged somewhere in that small little house.
Remus still found it weird that he slept in a bed every day, that his company wasn't just a bunch of murderous werewolves
Remus still found it weird whenever his Mum tried to pull him into a hug, it was hard to get a friendly 'Hello' at the werewolf hideout, so, physical affection was pretty scare.
The entire area was shocked when The Lupin's long-lost son finally appeared, so, of course, it was no surprise the next day when a number of people began to knock at the door, demanding for the Lupins to tell them how they found Remus, when they found him, where he was, even the police knocked at their door, demanding for them to answer while Remus hid in his room, desperate to not let people see him. However, his parents refused to speak, asking that they wanted to spend this time with their son, and not have an entire investigation going on. Surprisingly, the police agreed, albeit with a bit of suspicion, however, everyone quickly forgot about it.
Remus would still see him every day, Fenrir, his sickening yellow eyes and his teeth covered in the blood of all those innocent people. Remus still expected to see him, standing in the mirror, staring at him, but every night, Fenrir never showed.
Maybe his fear of that man he once admired would fade away, maybe it wouldn't, maybe it would continue to linger inside him. But, Remus could live with that.
Because, for the first time in so many years, Remus would wake up and make sure that he would make it through the day, all in once piece.
Remus knew very well that there would still be people that hate him, that would still want him to die for just simply existing, and he knew very well that these people wouldn't change their views on werewolves like his father, he knew that these people would die with so much hatred inside them. He would just have to find the right people, and, he did. After all, he would consider those new friends he made at Hogwarts to be the 'right people'.
And as Remus got older, every day turned out to be more normal than the day before. And soon, after so long, he would no longer wake up with fear, he would wake up and go on with his day.
And soon, every day just became another day.
