Remus had run away from the hideout, again and was in the forest, again. But this time, he did not try to go to a market or steal anything, but, today he just wanted to get away from the hideout. Remus was sitting on the branch of a tree and dramatically staring past the trees, enjoying the breeze that was rushing past him.
"Hi, Remus," a voice said and it surprised Remus so much that he almost fell off the tree,
Charlotte sat on the tree branch next to Remus, "You scared me!" Remus told her and she laughed,
"Has it finished?" Remus asked and Charlotte shook her head,
"Still going on,"
Before Remus had left, 2 werewolves had gotten into a fight and it ended up resorting to them both punching and kicking the hell out of each other while all the other werewolves watched in interest. They ended up biting each other and blood was coming out from both of their necks. Remus felt uncomfortable watching it happen so he went out.
They both sat in silence for a while until Charlotte asked, "Can we run away?"
Remus felt like he had frozen, it took him a few seconds for him to comprehend what Charlotte had said, Runaway? Why?
"Please tell me you're joking," Remus said hopefully, but after seeing Charlotte's serious face, Remus knew she wasn't joking.
"WHY THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO RUN AWAY?" Remus shouted at her, but he immediately felt bad because Charlotte flinched.
"Listen, it's the perfect time, we're all alone and everyone else is busy," she reasoned and Remus got even madder,
"You didn't answer my question," Remus snapped and Charlotte flinched again,
"Listen, I hate it there, I'm always hungry and I can hardly get any sleep. I always feel lonely. I have nightmares of the time I was bitten, it scares me. You saw the fight that happened there, that stuff happens all the time there. It makes me scared, what if I get into a fight? I'm the youngest one there, I will be mauled to death! And Greyback, don't get me started on him. He's a creep, he eats people! And, I miss my family,". Charlotte ended, and tears were rolling down her cheeks. Remus felt sorry for her, she was brainwashed. She had only been here for two years, Remus remembered when he had been here for two years, that he hated it here and he wanted to run away. But now, Remus loved it here.
"You're too young, you don't understand," Remus told her and Charlotte face turned red,
"OF COURSE I'M TOO YOUNG! CAN'T YOU SEE REMUS? THEY'RE BRAINWASHING YOU! AND I WANT YOU TO LEAVE BEFORE YOU GET BRAINWASHED MORE!" she screamed and Remus was taken aback, but suddenly, he got mad,
"BRAINWASHED? BRAINWASHED! I'M AM NOT BRAINWASHED! YOU ARE! CAN'T YOU SEE? WITCHES AND WIZARDS HATE US BECAUSE WE ARE WEREWOLVES! WITCHES AND WIZARDS DESERVE TO BURN!" He shouted at her and Charlotte rolled her eyes,
"This is exactly what I mean-"
"You don't know what you're saying,"
They both sat in silence for a while,
"Do you remember you're family?" Charlotte asked,
"This is off-topic-"
"I said 'Do you remember you're family?'" she asked, more sternly,
Did Remus remember his family? Well, not really. He didn't remember where they lived, what they looked like, or what their names were. He only remembered one thing about his family. And that one thing he remembered was that his father had called werewolves 'Soulless, Evil and that they deserve nothing but death' and since Greyback told him that, Remus hated his father with every single cell of his body.
"No," Remus responded,
"I remember some things. I remember my Mum, my Dad and my older brother. I remember that every single Friday, we would play gobstones. I've always been good at Gobstones. And on special occasions, we would go to Hogsmede and have a butterbeer. I miss my family. I miss the Friday nights when we would play Gobstones. And I'm sure my family misses me," Charlotte responded,
"Well, my family doesn't miss me,"
"How do you know?"
"I just know,"
Charlotte looked at him for a minute before looking back at the sunset. Remus lept off the tree and ran back to the hideout. Charlotte didn't follow him. She probably ran away, thought Remus as he went into the hideout.
Remus could tell who won the fight as he walked in. A man was lying on the ground, Remus couldn't tell if he was unconscious or dead. Blood was spilling from his arms, neck and legs and big purple bruises lay on his skin. Remus felt sick as he walked over the guy and ran to a room. He hoped that Charlotte didn't leave, she would die out there. She was only seven! Where would she go?
After a while, he saw Charlotte walk past him. "So you didn't run away?" he asked her and she shook her head before walking away.
Remus fell asleep on the hard floor.
Remus had the weirdest dream that night. Charlotte was dancing around a game of Gobstones and juggling butterbeer while she chanted about how Remus was brainwashed. Remus told her to shut up over and over again but that only made her chants louder. Then, the scene changed and he saw that girl called Petunia but her head was on a giraffes body and she was shouting about how he had stolen something. He could also hear a woman calling his name, somewhere in the distance.
