Entry from the sequel of Somber Reminiscence, 'One More Moment'
-

"Can't we just talk about this?!"

My heels clicked down the hallway, pushing my curls back with my hand and grabbing my purse off the hook.

"There's nothing to talk about, we're done." I say, not sparing a look at him as I checked my purse to make sure I had everything.

"Elena you're being ridiculous. This all happened over what? Some guy who wears tights now?"

I walked over to the door, raising my brows at Jimmy who wore disheveled hair and wrinkled clothes.

"Steve Rogers is a war hero, Jimmy." I mention, walking towards him as he stepped away from the door, me closing it behind us and locking it. "And you know why we broke up."

I watched my steps under me, careful not to miss a step as I heard him walking behind me.

"I told you I was sorry about it. It's been months already." His hand came onto my arm, stopping me as I looked up at him.

With the street lights shining on one side of his face, I could see that he really was a mess.

The unshaven beard, the grime stuck to his cheeks, and the bags under his eyes still couldn't mask how attractive he was compared to other guys though.

"I know you don't want to lose us either." His voice went low, feeling his other hand come up to my cheek as my feet stuck me where I was.

I felt my heart skip a beat, blowing out air as my eyes shifted to my right then back to him.

I missed what we had, and the comfort he had brought me in the year that we were together if I was being completely honest

"I- Jimmy, I told you-" I started, looking back into his eyes, clutching my purse to my side as I took in his familiar scent.

"Don't let two schmucks come between all that we had before."

My mind did a double-take then, reminding me of how Jimmy really was.

I pulled my head away from his hand, stepping back as I shook off his final touch.

"Don't talk to me anymore. We're done." I say, finally pushing myself forward and opening the gate, leaving him behind as I headed to the pub.

"You don't know what you're losing sweetheart!" I heard him yell, exhaling as I pressed forward.

I checked over my shoulder a few times, worrying that he'd be following, but he wasn't.

I don't know what happened that night when I met James and Steve Rogers, but I hated how much Jimmy insulted them.

I read in the newspaper about them though, or at least about Steve Rogers, who was no longer the scrawny man I saw months ago.

Instead, he was known as 'Captain America', the super-soldier who single-handedly saved a whole infantry from the Nazis.

Of course a large part of why I remember that is because James was a part of the infantry that he saved.

I saw him in the photo, but he didn't look like the bright-eyed man that charmed-I mean greeted me 2 months ago.

He seemed thinner, less alive as he stood next to the tall Steve Rogers.
