I am Díolún Críostóir Dómhnall Séamus Stiúbhart Ruairc Mac Bréifneach (or just Díolún mac Críostóir) son of Críostóir Dáibhid Mac Bréifneach son of Dáibhid Uilliam Mac Bréifneach son of Fionnladh Aralt Mac Bréifneach son of Seosamh Biniáimin Mac Bréifneach son of Seosamh Mac Bréifneach son of Íosác son of Biniáimin son of Tómás son of Seosamh son of Iósua son of Tadhg son of Seán son of Riocárd son of Princess Íosabéal Ní Chonchobhair. In English she was known as Isabella Connors, Isabel O'Connor, Isabella Connor, and a myriad of other anglicisations.
Íosabéal is an amusing name to me because it is obviously the gaelicised version of Isabel, and gaelicised names usually hold no meaning and are just meant to sound like their origin. However, Íosabéal in Irish means "Jesus mouth" which, frankly, I find hilarious. However, for my more humourless readers, a more poetic way to interpret it might by "Mouth of Jesus" implying devotion to or preaching of the Gospel. However, I digress.
Íosabéal was the daughter of Uilliam Ó Conchobhair son of Seaghán Ó Conchobhair son of Aodh Ó Conchobhair son of Feidhlimidh son of Seaghán son of Seumas son of Aodh son of Domnall son of Donnchad bán Ó Conchobair son of Pádhrac son of Seaghán son of Conchobar son of Áed bán son of Amhlaíb son of Máelshechlainn Ua Conchobair, Tánaiste of Connacht, son of Cathal carrach Ua Conchobair, King of Connacht and Tánaiste of Ireland (1150-1202), son of Conchobar Máenmaige Ua Conchobair, King of Connacht and Tánaiste of Ireland (1132-1189), eldest son of Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair, last High King of Ireland, first and only King of Ireland, and King of Connacht (1116-1198).
Donnchad bán Ó Conchobair was the first husband of Gwenllian verch Rhys (her second husband was Walter Awbrey). It was by her that Donnchad sired Domnall and his other two sons, Pátraic and Toirdelbach. Gwenllian was the daughter of Rhys son of Morgan son of Einion son of Hywell son of Cadwgan Goch son of Gruffudd son of Cadwgan Hen son of Gruffudd son of Gwrgenau son of Mabon son of Mabon son of Madog Eidio Wyllt son of Syggtrig Oláfsson son of Amlaíb mac Sitriuc, King of Dublin. After the death of Rhys ap Morgan, his daughter, Gwenllian, was the last male-line descendant of the Kings of Dublin. King Amlaíb was the son of Sigtrygg Silkbeard, also King of Dublin, and his wife Princess Sláine of Munster, daughter of Blessed Brian Bórumha, High King of Ireland, and the only Emperor of the Gaels (Imperator Scottorum) (941-1014).
High King Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair also descends from Brian Bórumha. Ruaidrí was the son of High King Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair son of Princess Mór of Munster daughter of High King Toirdelbach Ua Briain son of King Tadc of Munster son of Blessed Brian Bórumha, High King of Ireland, and the only Emperor of the Gaels (Imperator Scottorum) (941-1014).
Íosabéal Ní Chonchobhair was the daughter of Íosabéal Nic Uighilín, daughter of Donal MacQuillan nephew of Ruaidhrí Óg MacQuillan, last Lord of the Route.
Íosabeál and her husband Hugh had two children: Séamus and Riocárd. Séamus had Máire and Seosamh, neither of whom married nor had children.
It is from Riocárd that all members of the House of Mac Bréifneach descend.
Riocárd's wife was Mary who apparently was a member of the Paleologus family of England. This is a bit of an interesting family, but for the sake of fluid reading I shall just tell you to Google them or something, as there is a bit of information on them. Mary was the daughter of either Theodore Paleologus II or his younger brother, John Theodore Paleologus, who are often confused for each other. In either case, Mary would have been left fatherless between the ages of nine and eleven, as Theodore died in 1644 and John died in 1645, and Mary was born circa 1634. Theodore and John were the elder two out of three sons of Theodore Paleologus son of Camilio Paleologo, who apparently was born in Italy and came to England in the early-mid-1500's. Camilio was the son of Prospero son of Theodore. Theodore was the son of Maria de Colneat and John (or Giovanni) Palaiologos, who apparently went to Italy from Constantinople. Giovanni was the supposed eldest son of Thomas Palaiologos and his wife, Catherina Zaccaria. Thomas was the Despot of the Morea (a region in modern-day Greece) and the younger brother of Kónstaninos XI, the last Eastern Roman Emperor. Thomas or his son Andreas reportedly sold the right to inheritance to the Byzantine throne to Ferdinand and Isabella, the co-monarchs of the recently-united Kingdom of Spain, though I am not so sure on this particular point. Thomas and Catherine's daughter (more precisely, the younger of the two), Zoe, married Ivan the Great, Grand Prince of Muscovy. Their son was Grand Prince Vasili III, the father of Ivan the Terrible, first Tsar of All Russia. From him, almost all subsequent Tsars descend, even the first and second House of Romanov.
