Chapter 20 - I would love to hug you but not this tight
"Chelsea! Have you called the catering service?"
"Chels, where should I move this?"
"Can I put the coffin here?"
Apparently, Chris's idea to make a party is to delegate everything to me.
Yeah, he's seriously funny. We've arrived at the lake house since 9 am and we've been preparing for the party ever since. We are as in Flo, James, Jake, Elliot, William, Kyle, Chris's best friends, the senior football players - Adam and Bryan; Danielle, Jessica, and Tyler. Yes, he still helps us.
Danielle is Chris's sort-of-girlfriend, the cheerleader; on the other hand, Jessica is the former head cheerleader. She is tall and tanned, and according to Chris, she's a hardcore in workout and clean eating. Nevertheless, she treats me better than I expected, she blends in with the juniors pretty well too.
And you know why is Chris throwing all of his duties to me? Because the stupid coach decided to call Chris to have some freaking meeting with his scouts. Yeah, funny! He even dares to tell me to command these people to arrange the party right after he says I should take a rest and not to help them. Honestly, in the end, I do so much too, and even my ribs have gotten better, it still feels awful to run or to bend.
I don't even go to parties that much and he trusts me to arrange a party. How cool is that? Notice the sarcasm.
"Jess, can you help me a sec?" I slump on the couch after four tiring hours. The decoration is done, thanks to Flo; and the food is already sent by the catering company. Needless to say we are doing great jobs despite the mess three hours ago made by Adam and Bryan.
"Yeah Chels?" She chuckles, "What to help? We are nearly done. Just have a rest before the party!"
"Chris texted me to make sure the booze are enough." I don't drink and I don't know if the endless box of bottles are enough for the crazy drunkard party they're going to have few hours again. Yep, poor me. Sixteenth and never drunk, yay.
My life is that boring yet too eventful.
Jess leaves to the kitchen to check, then she gets back again with two thumbs up. "More than enough. We are definitely going to have best Halloween party ever!"
"Thanks for your help, seriously," I grin excitedly, before it is wiped entirely when I see Tyler comes to the room, shirtless. William and Kyle follow closely behind, they are talking so deeply serious, shirtless too.
He dares to come to the room shirtless.
And man, he is damn hot. His six packs are flawless and his arms's muscles are too good to be true. His hair is dangerously messy and his white t-shirt is hung on his left shoulder. He reminds me of those hot Abercrombie models, but he looks much better and hotter. I quickly look away before he notices me staring at him, and how awkward we are.
We still haven't talked yet, and I try my best to ignore that. When we were arranging the party, I tried not to have eye contact with him. I just try to act natural and normal, like we have no issues, but still deep in my heart I feel bad and awkward. He didn't greet me, and neither did I.
