It was a quiet, peaceful morning in the United Nations city of Westopolis, the wind was flowing in a slight breeze giving a sense of freshness in the atmosphere, and the birds were chirping loudly. It was near the park area where there was a small amount of old residents going for an early morning walk.

Up against a thick tree stood Shadow the Hedgehog. He stood with a slight slump against the tree, quietly contemplating, giving off a mysterious vibe. The old residents on the park path behind shadow would side glance at him with a slight wonder but would continue to keep to themselves out of common respect and politeness, and to not be seen as nosey.

In his mind shadow would quite thoughtfully ponder on the many absurdities of reality and, thoroughly contemplated the many complexities prevalent in society in an almost pessimistic manner, however, with a slight sense of optimistic hope; a rebellious flame of will.

As he stood there the breeze blew through his hair and he realized how he had been there for about an hour. He had much time but, in his mind, didn't figure he would want to waste the day leaning against a tree. Slowly, he turned his back, looking at the floor he slowly walked forward, away from the tree, he felt a slight sense of consummation from his early morning contemplation.

He had made himself worn out from thinking about things too much, there was a lot of oppression in the world and it worn him out from just thinking about it. He then made a small promise to himself that he would take a break and try to think about things that made him happy, like that blue hedgehog. He wouldn't always seem that he took any liking to Sonic, only appearing as a mutual respect but that being it, he always seemed to not be very passionate but he very much is.

As he walked down the park path he thought to himself "Where is Sonic anyway?" he hadn't seen him since a mission he had with him to shut down a base belonging to a group that had committed terrorist acts, it was a mystery as to who this group were and other places that they may be but they sure asked for trouble when the attempted to kill multiple innocent people. That aside, Sonic and Shadow were able to quite easily take them down. They both bonded quite a lot both soon and after the mission. Shadow really liked Sonic, though he was very distant a lot of times he genuinely found Sonic to be a fun-loving, free spirit to be around.

Sonic made Shadow feel better as though he was the missing pieces of himself and the same for Sonic, a kind of yin and yang in a way. He knew there was a chance that Sonic could be around Westopolis somewhere, so he abandoned the park an walked through the city area to scout out for the blue hedgehog.
