THE PROTECTOR

I awoke in a tent, not my tent though. I groaned as a rush of aching pain shot up my arms I looked down at my forearm remembering the panther. I saw my arms had been wrapped up and most of the blood had been cleaned off my arm.

I grimaced as I pushed myself up and off the cot, "You shouldn't be getting up." I snapped my head in the direction of the voice. Bellamy. I nodded "How is it feelings?" He asked nodding towards my arms, I shrugged my shoulders finding it better I be honest rather than hide.

"They hurt, the more I'm awake the more the pain gets worse." Bellamy nodded at my words "Well. Maybe I can get your mind off it." He then pulled his hand from behind back and holding up a skewer with meat on it, at the sight of the meat my eyes widened and my mouth began to drool I reached out and snatched it out of his hands and sat back down on the cot.

Taking small bites of the meat and grinning as I did so, "Whose tent is this?" I asked with a mouthful of food "Mine, I carried you back to camp and brought you in here till Clarke came to fix you up." Bellamy said as he took a seat next to me "Well thank you, for carrying me back and for allowing me to stay in your tent for a bit and for the food" Bellamy nodded at me.

"It's not a problem, I'll be outside by the fire handing food out. Holler if you need anything." I nodded and continued to eat my food until there was no more, after about a minute I got up and went to get some water.

Once I made it to the make shift water station I grabbed a cup made from the metal from the drop ship and took a sip of water, "Oh thank god you're ok!" I heard but I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. I turned to my best friend and gave her a hug. "Yeah I'm all good, thanks to your brother. And Clarke."

Octavia nodded "Guess I'll thank them later for helping you" I smiled as I looked around camp "Lots of worked happened while I was out." "Yeah, Atom got people to work he wants to build a wall around camp." I nodded and thought that that was smart coming from someone like Atom.

"Have you seen him? Atom." Octavia asked "Considering I just woke up an hour or so ago no I have not, why what's up?" She shook her head "Atom and I got close while you and Bellamy and everyone else were getting Jasper, Bellamy saw us kissing in the woods and told Atom to follow him." I grimaced "And you havnt seen him since" I stated Octavia nodded.

"Bellamy did something, or knows where he is." I nodded "100%" I yawned "You should get some sleep, you had a long and rough day." I nodded and walked off after taking another sip of water before letting the cup go and it float in the water.

I stumbled around camp tiredly and bumped into someone "Hey watch it." I looked up and saw Murphy. His face softened but only slightly "Hey, glad to see you up and moving." "Thanks me too." He nodded and went off to whatever he was doing. I walked into my tent and plopped down on my cot and immediately fell into a deep sleep.

I jolted awake to an awful moaning sound I got up and ran for the drop ship and slowly climbed up the latter do to my injured arms. "The Grounders cauterized the wound. Saved his life." Clarke said looking over Jasper's body "Need any help?" I offered Clarke nodded "Yeah, in a bit." I nodded and took a seat waiting for instruction.

"Saved his life so they could string him up for live bait. Garden of Eden this ain't." Finn muttered grimly sadly I had to agree, I tuned out the rest of there conversation until I heard Clarke snap at someone.

Looking up I saw Wells "Hey, I'm just trying to help." Clarke nodded "Right. You want to help? Hold him down." I took this as my cue to get ready and took hold of Jasper's shoulder and arm.

As everyone out their hands on Jasper to hold him down he let out a painful moan, I cringed. Not because I was irritated but because I couldn't imagine what pain he was in, I was in pain and all it was were a couple deep gashes and a bite mark, I couldn't imagine how being speared from god knows how far felt.

I hoped I'd never have to know.

Jasper let out a blood curdling scream as Clarke just felt around his wound "Hold him still. I need to cut away the infected flesh." We all got a better hold of Jasper and added more force in holding him down I looked down to Jasper's face "I'm so sorry, it'll be over soon" I whispered to him.

We all looked up hearing someone move up the latter rather clumsily "Stop it! You're killing him." Octavia screamed in terror, "She's trying to save his life."Finn spoke calmly, I looked down at Jasper "it's ok, it's ok." I repeated to him. "She can't" I looked up and saw Bellamy had followed Octavia. No surprise there.

Wells stands up and walks up to Bellamy threateningly or trying to be. "Back off!" Clarke shook her head at Wells "We didn't drag him through miles of woods just to let him die." I nodded "Yeah, and I didn't become a chew toy to a panther for us to just give up." "Kid's a goner. If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy." Bellamy defended his stance.

At first I thought he was talking to me but as I looked at him I saw that his eyes bore info Clarke's. "Sorry if Jasper's an inconvenience to you, but this isn't the Ark. Down here, every life matters." Clarke shouted at Bellamy only for Bellamy to step forward, he wasn't backing down.

"Take a look at him. He's a lost cause." Clarke shook her head at Bellamy's words before turning to Octavia, "Octavia, I've spent my whole life watching my mother heal people. If I say there's hope, there's hope." Bellamy shook his head "This isn't about hope, it's about guts. You don't have the guts to make the hard choices. I do. He's been like this for three days. If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll kill him myself." He turned to leave before stopping.

"Octavia, let's go." Octavia shook her head at her brother averting her eyes to the floor. "I'm staying here." I looked up to Bellamy to see him pause for a second rolling his eyes and then watched as his head disappeared down the latter. "Power-hungry, self-serving jackass. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. No offense." Monty muttered but looked up realizing Octavia. His sister was present.

Octavia shrugged her shoulders I looked at Clarke "Not to be rude but can we get the infected flesh off Jasper now! Clarke nodded but before she could get to cutting Finn spoke up "Yeah. Bellamy is all that. But he also happens to be right."
