MAKING FRIENDS WITH LINCOLN

I rolled over with a yawn and stretched my arms and legs before sitting up and putting my boots on and jumping to my feet and heading out of Octavia and I' tent and making my way to the area where we had food being handed out along the way I waved hello to some people.

"Morning sleeping beauty!" Jasper greeted me as I sat next to him and across from Monty "Morning boys, what's on the breakfast menu today?"

"Fish, fruit, and nuts." Monty said throwing a nut at my face  "Yum!" I over exaggerated as I got up and grabbed some fruit and fish and and water and sat back down with Monty and Jasper.

"After you eat want to help us sort some nuts?" Jasper asked with his eyebrows raised I started to laugh only for Jasper to scoff and roll his eyes "Get your head out of the gutter you perv." "I would love to sort nuts with my favorite boys." I laughed.

Jasper, Monty, and I. Continued to talk some while I finished breakfast "Alright boys, let's go sort some nuts." I laughed Monty and Jasper both laughed and shook their heads at me before making their own jokes.

We had been sorting nuts for about an hour Jasper and Monty eating them mostly while I was actually sorting the variety of nuts in front of us while they snacked. I looked up as I heard someone coming to us "    Hey, you guys seen Dax?" Clarke asked looking around.

I tapped Monty and pointed "Isn't that him?" Monty looked up and followed my finger before nodding "Over there on the meat crew." He answered Clarke who nodded and walked off to Dax, "Geez a Thank you would have been nice." I muttered with an eye roll.

"What do you think they're gonna do with the Grounder?" Jasper asked fear evident in his facial features, we looked in the direction of the drop ship to see Bellamy exiting it which caused me to blush slightly remembering our kiss from last night. "I'd rather not think about it." Monty answered Jasper's question I turned to face them "Bellamy decided he wasn't going to kill him, and we are not going to keep him prisoner no one is going to want to babysit the grounder."

"How long till his friends come looking?" Jasper looked at me "Cheer up. In that time, we'll all be dead from hypothermia." Monty said popping a nut in his mouth and then motioning to throw one in Jasper's mouth to which he nodded and caught it once if left Monty's hands.

"How does it feel to have a mouth full of nuts?" I asked smirking they both stopped their handshake and looked at me shaking their heads at me but smiling none the less, "Maybe you need a mouth full of nuts." Monty jokes going back to sorting.

"Oh hey Bellamy." Jasper said loudly trying to end the jokes about nuts "Hey" Bellamy nodded to Jasper and Monty and looking back at the rations before he did a double take and looked at me "Rache, can we talk real quick before I leave?" I nodded and moved from behind the ration table to towards Bellamy who guided us away from prying ears.

"Firefly, I just wanted to tell you I'm going with Clarke to this bunker in hopes to find more supplies. I wanted to tell you before you heard it from anyone else." I nodded at his words "When will you be back?" Bellamy looked at the ground refusing to look back up at me.

I raised my hands on either side of his cheeks and made him look at me "Please tell me you're planning on coming back?" I asked sadly Bellamy sighed and I knew his answer, "What about Octavia?" I asked "she maybe mad at you right now but you're her big brother she idolizes you. You can't just leave. She is the whole reason you came down here." I whispered yelled.

Bellamy nodded at me "I know, but with the ark in contact it won't be long until they come down and when they do they'll want me dead." "You really think Octavia and I would let that happen? Hell Monty and Jasper wouldn't let that happen." I stated anger clearly in my voice.

"Maybe so and then they would lock you guys back up, I can't have that happen it's best if I just leave." Bellamy said sadly looking at the ground "You didn't tell Octavia did you?" I seethed when Bellamy didn't answer I continued again "I can't believe you, after everything!" I shouted looking around to see that I had gained peoples attention.

"After last night?" I whispered this time moving my hand between him and I, Bellamy looked at me and his eyes softened "Firefly, last night was the best night I've had since being on the ground, even if it was just a kiss. It meant everything to me." Bellamy grabbed both of my hands with his and held them "Then stay! We were here first we know more then they do about the ground, we need you" I gestured for the camp "Octavia needs you! I need you!"

"I'm sorry, I wish there was another way." "There is. I just told you." Bellamy nodded understanding me "I'm sorry firefly." I nodded and snatched my hands from his "You don't get to just walk into someone's life and make them care just to check out." I stated coldly holding my hand up as he moved towards me.

And with that I turned around and walked in the other direction and not looking back. Because If I did I know I would burst into tears. So I marched over to a tree furthest from everyone and punched it once with all my strength immediately feeling my pain shoot from my knuckles and up to my wrist, I winced and looked at my knuckles luckily they weren't bleeding but would have a killer bruise.

I shook my hand out and opened and closed it hoping to soothe the pain, I was sat by the fire staring into the angry flames and feeling my anger disappear as I was mesmerized by it's beauty, I've always felt a closeness to fire and when I was near it I felt at home.

I was so transfixed on the flames in front of me I didn't even hear when someone approached until they put their hands on my shoulder and shook me a bit I looked up and saw Octavia "Good you're back, I need your help."

Octavia and I found ourselves going up to see the grounder once we made it up Octavia made a beeline to the grounder while I closed the hatch. "Hi. We don't have a lot of time." Octavia spoke softly as I made my way to them, "we brought you some water, here." Octavia raised the small pouch to his mouth and he took a sip.

Before taking another this time more greedily causing me to smile I grabbed a piece of his shirt that was on the floor and brought it up to his lips and wiping away the water from his face, "It's good, right? Sorry we haven't seen you since everything happened."

I nodded sadly "Every time we try we get shunned away." Octavia nodded at my words and raised the water back up to the grounder who drank some more water, "My brother has been keeping us away. He's a total dick, which you probably already figured out." The grounder chuckled at Octavia's words.

"You do understand me. I knew it." Octavia smiled at the grounder "I told you he understood us." I smiled happily because he was letting his guard down with us, even if it is just slightly.

Octavia moved away and took her jacket off offering to clean the grounder up, "I'm going to let you two he while you clean him up a bit. I'll be on the second level and will signal when someone is coming." Octavia nodded at me and mouthed a thank you to me which I just smiled and nodded subtly.

As I was about to reach the hatch a voice stopped me "Wait." I stopped and looked up "Thank you!" I walked over to the grounder as he spoke to me "You're welcome, I'm Rachel. Though I'm sure you already got that bit down." The grounder nodded at me "My name...is Lincoln" he spoke looking at Octavia and I.

I smiled "It's nice to meet you Lincoln, we will get you out of here I promise." I said pointing between Octavia and I making sure he knew I meant my promise, he nodded and I took that as my cue and moved down the hatch.

I sat down on the second level by the ladder that led to the first floor waiting for voices or any sound indicating someone was coming, once I heard footsteps enter the drop ship I ran to the ladder going up and tapping on the hatch letting Octavia know someone was coming before I opened the hatch.

"Miller is coming!" I whisper shouted Octavia and Lincoln nodded as Octavia continued to clean him up and I offered him more water that he accepted. "Octavia, Rachel! get the hell out now." Miller stated pointing to the hatch "Bellamy isn't even here!" Octavia argued
"Get out, or he gets the beating I've been aching to give him" Miller shouted.

Causing me to put he water down and move away from Lincoln with my hands in the air "No need to get your panties in a twist, we're going." Miller rolled his eyes at me "Okay, okay. I get it. I'm gone." Octavia said calmly and followed my down the hatch.
