Few words could describe the feelings Link felt as he traveled through time.
There was a dazzling sensation of colors and emotions he never even knew existed. All he could do was close his eyes and pray as he was thrusted into an ocean of unknown.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, floating in an endless void, Link felt a warm glow on his face.
He took a breath and the air was hot and mildly stuffy; the humidity was powerful and there was a distant sound of metal rattling and clanging.
Goron...City?
Link tried sitting up but he was met with a slight pounding in his head; chills and flashes ran up and down his spine.
His whole body felt excruciatingly hot, despite the fact he was shivering like a wet dog. He fell back down on the scorched earth.
Oh great... he thought.
His thoughts were interrupted however, by a voice that came from behind him.
"Hey uh...buddy? I don't exactly think it's a good idea to take a nap in the middle of the road like that. Not unless you wanna get turned into crow-food!" A booming voice said.
Next thing Link knew, the face of a young goron loomed over of him. He was a burly fellow with a toothy grin and no facial hair.
For whatever reason, Link couldn't help but feel an odd sense of familiarity, but it was difficult to pinpoint exactly what it was about him.
"Hey look, I don't blame ya' if you don't wanna make conversation, but you're kinda blocking my path," the goron said politely.
"Hm? Oh!" Link exclaimed, scrambling to stand up off the ground.
His odd headache was a little too much however, and he stumbled backwards under a sickly weight.
Thankfully, the goron was there to catch him.
"Woah there, little guy!" He exclaimed. "You feelin' okay?"
Link stayed there a while, too dizzy to respond for a moment.
"Heh...I've uh...been better," he chuckled in reply, slumping deeper into the goron stranger's arms.
The goron took Link's limp body and propped him up in front of him, he then pressed the back of his massive hand to the knight's little forehead.
"Gee, that's quite the fever. What are you doing out here if you're sick?" He asked, a tinge of worry in his voice.
So that's why I feel like garbage...
"Oh, wait!" The goron spoke suddenly.
"I nearly forgot to introduce myself! The name's Daruk, at your service," he said, extending his hand to Link in greeting.
How could he forget.
The somewhat nostalgia of his expression made complete sense now. It was his trusted companion from a hundred years ago.
"D-Daruk?!" Link exclaimed, stumbling backwards and nearly falling again. He couldn't actually believe it; his late friend was standing right in front of him, and he looked so young.
"I think this heat's making you delirious..." Daruk said. "No matter, I can take you back to my place and..." he stopped mid-sentence.
"What's the matter?" Link asked, trying to regain his composure as more chills ran down his spine.
"The mountain far off in the distance...those are rocks! The rocks are falling down!" Daruk thundered, pointing a finger towards the distance.
Sure enough, giant boulders and chunks of earth hurled down from the hills and mountains.
