Still holding onto his shaking hand, Zelda and her knight made their way over to the portal.

"Well," Link began, gently letting go of her hand; he gestured to the vortex in the air, "ladies first,"

The princess laughed, then proceeded to exaggerate a curtsy.

"Oh, my humble, dashing rescuer, you are but too kind," she replied, a huge smile on her face.

Walking over to the portal, she stepped inside, falling into the blue abyss below. Link quickly followed behind her.

"You think they're okay?" Symin nervously inquired to Purah, who was bent over the contraption, frantically pushing buttons.

She let out a somewhat agitated sigh.

"They've been gone for three days, I must focus on pinpointing their location and getting them back here," she dismissed his question.

Impa couldn't help but peer over her sister's shoulder. "Have you discovered where they are yet, then?" She asked.

Purah clicked her tongue and shook her head, that was until she drew in a sharp gasp.

"Wait a second..." she began, and the four other Shekiah around her held their breaths.

She went ahead and pressed a few more buttons on the contraption, there was more mechanical buzzing and then all of a sudden, the scientist let out an excited squeak.

"Oh! I've found them! I've found them!" She chirped ecstatically, pressing buttons and switching levers.

"Where are they?!" Paya asked frantically, scooting closer to the machine.

"Somewhere...a hundred years ago. About at the time of the Calamity's arrival," Purah mused, raising a snow-colored eyebrow.

"Why on earth are they there?" Robbie gasped, adjusting the strange goggles he wore.

"Hylia knows..." Purah answered, flipping one last switch. "Stand back everyone! I'm gonna try and zap them back in here!"

Following her orders, they all shuffled backwards, nervously watching as the machine buzzed and projected its familiar golden light onto the floor.

Two figures began materializing, finally taking the forms of the princess and knight.

Within seconds the sound of Zelda coughing filled the room, coupled with Link wheezing lightly. The floorboards underneath them became drenched in rainwater.

The princess then felt a pair of tiny hands hauling her off the ground and forcing her to hug a tiny body.

"Oh princess, we were so worried!" The familiar voice of Purah exclaimed, squeezing her even harder.

She then quickly pulled away to get a good look at Zelda's face.

"Why in Hylia's name are you both soaked?" Robbie questioned, gently helping Paya pull Link to sit up.

"L-long story..." Link groaned, falling back into the shekiah's arms.

Impa then appeared at her sister's side and pressed a bony hand onto Zelda's forehead. "We have all the time in the world for it later; let's get you two upstairs," she said.

The rest of the day went by and Zelda was tucked in the warm sheets of Paya's bed, while Link was nestled into a bedroll on the floor.

The shekiah had been kind enough to spare them the millions of answers to the questions they had. They decided it was best to save them for tomorrow.

Night had fallen, the pair had taken their medicine and the only sound among them was the soft crackling of the candle that sat on the nightstand between them.

For whatever reason however, Zelda couldn't seem to get herself to shut her eyes and drift off to sleep.

She weakly rolled over to look at Link on the floor. It was somewhat relieving to see that his eyes were still wide open too, examining all the little grooves and etches in the ceiling.

"I never thought I'd be this relieved to see a ceiling still on a house," he chuckled hoarsely, after noticing his princess had begun staring at him.

Zelda laughed with him, gently using her arm to prop up her head. "Me neither," she replied.

There was some more silence until Link spoke up again.

"I'll be perfectly honest, I can't sleep."

"Same here," Zelda answered, giggling once more.

Finally, after thinking a few things over in her mind, she gently lifted the blanket off of her and scooted to the other side of the bed, patting the spot that she'd just been in.

"You're sure?" Link asked, getting what she was implying.

"Wholeheartedly," she answered.

After shrugging to himself, Link got up from the floor and trudged over to the bed, slipping into the sheets and wrapping an arm around Zelda, letting her blonde head rest on his arm.

She gently placed her free hand onto Link's chest, the feeling of his heartbeat under her fingers caused the biggest and dumbest smile to spread across her face.

"Goodnight, Link," she sighed, pressing a kiss onto his jawline.

Link grinned, pressing a kiss onto her hair.

"G'night, Zelda," he answered. "I love you."

"I love you too."

The end.
