Michael groggily pushed himself up from his stomach on his bed. It was late Sunday night. Alyssa and him had just broken up the day before and while he did feel a little sad, he felt more guilty than upset. He hoped she wasn't crying in her room or something.
The reason Michael had woken up though, was because his phone was buzzing on his dresser. Blinking rapidly, he rubbed his eyes and rolled over onto his back before lifting himself up again to grab his phone. The screen read, Leia Skywalker. He glanced at his bedroom window. Had he missed a flashlight signal? He pressed the answer button.
"Hello?" He asked, his voice thick with sleep.
"Mike. Michael. Mike my man! Mikey." Leia said rapidly. "My trusted partner. My depute. My sidekick, no, my superhero." Michael was fully functional now. Leia was acting weird and she sounded.. Drunk. Her words were slurred and the pounding bass in the background, accompanied with the techno music was enough to tell him that she was somewhere, drunk, at a party.
"Leia where are you?" Leia giggled.
"Oh, you know. Out and about." Michael threw his covers back and quickly slipped his feet into his shoes.
"Leia, I need an address. I'm going to pick you up." Leia laughed again and then her voice sounded really far off. She was talking to somebody but he couldn't hear what they were saying.
"You don't have to Mike.. Michael. Microwave. Your name sounds like microwave how crazy is that?" She giggled again. Michael smiled but was completely serious again.
"I'm serious Leia, tell me where you are please." Michael said, putting her on speaker as he grabbed his jacket and shrugged his one before hunting for his keys.
"I don't know where I am actually. Ashton took me here."
"Where's Ashton then? Isn't he taking care of you?" Michael demanded, suddenly pissed off. What the fuck was Ashton thinking. Anyone could just grab her and.. He had to find Leia.
"Oh I can't find him. Yeah! That's why I called you. Do you know where Ashton is?"
"No I don't. Can you ask someone where you are so I can pick you up?" Leia said nothing for a really long time. Michael condo still hear the music though so he knew she was still on the line. "Leia?" He whispered, heading downstairs as quietly as possible. Then again, louder when he got outside. "Leia!" Her voice returned.
"Whoa calm down Mr. Grumpy pants. It's 1034 Weatherlew Lane." That's when the line went dead. Cursing, Michael jumped into his truck, started the engine and took off down the street.
Leia had never had so much fun in her entire life. All those lame ass slumber parties she used to go to where she would assure herself that these were as fun as any of those parties where you got drunk or high at. Boy was she wrong.
Leia was so glad she met Ashton. He opened all these new doors for her. She wasn't afraid to be around people who smoked. (She wasn't even afraid of doing it herself). Leis could tell drinking and being drunk would slowly become normal for her, natural even.
Nothing could bring Leia down from this incredible high. Well, except for her best friend maybe.
"Leia?" It was more of a question than a statement. Leia turned to look at him. His hair was wild and sticking up in several directions. He was wearing shoes, sweatpants and an old shirt with a jacket haphazardly thrown over everything. Leia laughed at his appearance because it looked like he had just rolled out of bed, because he had.
"Leia come on." Michael said, wrapping his hand around her wrist.
"I'm so glad you could join us!" Leia exclaimed, throwing her arms around Michael's neck. Michael hugged her back confused.
