~~ 12 years later ~~
As the print in Italics above says, twelve years later Leia, Luke and Michael are the best of friends. Inseparable since the Hemmings first moved in next door. While Michael's love and affection for Leia grew, Leia seemed oblivious to it all and continued to drag him along unknown to her that she actually was. Whenever the three of them got into an argument Michael would always take Leia's side and it hurt Luke's feelings more than once especially since he knew why he did it. He would always come second best to Leia, though Michael always argued that he didn't. But Luke knew better.
Now, at the ripe age of seventeen and Michael at eighteen, the three close knit friends are entering their junior/senior year of high school with another close pal Calum Hood who moved into their neighborhood not too long after Leia and Luke did. Together the four of them have been an unstoppable, popular group of friends that everyone wanted to hang around with but never actually got to know. So it was that week, the week before Junior/Senior year officially began and summer ended, that everything changed.
"Hey Luke." Michael asked slowly trying not to distract himself from the video game they were playing. Luke had just acquired it and to say they were addicted was an understatement. It was all they had played for the past week. They couldn't even take their eyes off the screen.
"Ya Michael." Luke replied in the same monotone fashion.
"What happened to your sister?" Luke scoffed and would've rolled his eyes if they weren't currently glued to the screen.
"How should I know. I don't have a telepathic link with her." Luke retorted making Michael laugh.
"Yeah you guys do. Otherwise she wouldn't have been able to save you from slipping off an antenna at the bottom of Cloud-city." Luke snickered.
"That was something." He replied. There was the slamming of a door and footsteps as someone walked into the Hemmings living room but their eyes didn't leave the TV.
"Jesus guys. I could've been some axe murderer and you still wouldn't have moved." Calum says flopping down next to Michael on the sofa jostling the controller.
"Watch it." Michael tells him. Calum snorts and sits up.
"Where's Leia? How come she isn't cheering you on and booing Luke?" Both boys shrug their shoulders.
"She disappeared upstairs.. YES!" Luke shouts fist pumping his controler and biting his lip as Michael dies in battle.
"Damnit Luke. Calum!" the dark haired boy give him a funny look.
"What?" Calum asks.
"I told you not to mess me up." Michael grumbled tossing him the controller which Calum catches feebly.
"I barely moved your arm." Calum replies.
"Whatever. I'll find Leia." Michael says not really pissed at all just curious as to where she went and needing an excuse to go find her.
"Don't do anything funny Clifford!" Luke shouts at him. Michael shakes his head as he climbs the stairs to her room. He'd never dream of it. She would never go for him anyways. Never has. Never will.
"Leia!" Michael called down the hallway. That's funny. Her bedroom door was closed. "Leia?" Michael called out again as he passed Luke's room. He peeked in to find exactly what he expected. Clothes haphazardly thrown around the room an assortment of music, books, and basketball trophies lining the shelves and his guitars lined up neatly along with his stereos on the wall by the window. Michael rolled his eyes at the sight and continued on to Leia's room. "Leia?" Michael called standing in front of the door. No answer. He knocked quietly wondering if she was asleep. "Leia.." Michael opened the door to find Leia and a guy on her bed shoving his tongue down her throat. Then Michael realized that not only was his shirt off but so was Leia's.
