Leia bounced up and down to the music emanating from the speakers. It was loud and the words were hard to hear but Leia loved it anyway. She didn't even want to think about where Ashton was at the moment. Probably off with his other, older friends, who always commented on how young she was. Leia wasn't that young. She was seventeen for Christ's sake! It's not like she didn't know her way around the block.
But there was also the chance that Ashton wasn't with his friends but off with some other girl. Some blonde or brunette who was pushing him against the wall and kissing the living daylights out of him. Ashton always said the girls were drunk and that Leia always walked in right before he could push them away. He called it bad timing. Leia called it cheating.
There was one name though, that kept popping up at the back of her mind. A name she kept trying to shove back down into a box and lock up. That name was Michael. Michael her best friend. Michael her one true friend. Michael who wouldn't approve of where she was at the moment. But Leia didn't care. She wanted to get drunk, smoke weed and forget about Ashton. Alyssa said to just break up with him. Leia told her it wasn't that easy.
"Leia!" A voice said sharply. They sounded mad. Leia looked up, smiling wide as her best friend, Michael loomed into view. It wasn't that hard for Michael to find her. He knew she would be on the dance floor, drunk, running her hands through her hair as she danced the night away.
"Michael! I'm so glad you're here!" Leia exclaimed, throwing her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek. Michael hugged her back, wrapping his arms around her waist and not letting go as she tried to step back.
"We're leaving." He said roughly, locking his hand around her wrist. Leia whined as he turned and tugged sharply on her arm.
"No Michael!" She cried out, dragging out the L.
"Yes, Leia." Michael replied firmly.
"We're leaving right fucking now." Michael growled. Leia was surprised by how angry he sounded and looked. So surprised in fact, that she let him lead her away. Michael pulled her out the door, down the walk away and helped her get into his waiting truck. He slammed the passenger door closed. Leia winced. Michael cringed at his harshness.
"Are you angry?" Leia asked softly after several minutes of quiet driving.
"Leia!" Michael barked at her. "Do you not remember? You're grounded and I can't fucking beleive.." He stopped, cursing under hi breath. Leia frowned.
"So? I just want to have fun." Leia grumbled under her breath. Michael glanced at her. "You're just being a stick in the mud." She muttered.
"I'm not being a stick in the mud. I'm being your best friend." Michael tried not to waver in his demeanor. He was angry and he was tired. "And how can this be fun! You don't even know where you are half the time!" Michael growled lowly, his hands tightening on the wheel. "Get this out of your bloodstream. Get him out of your bloodstream! You're not like this." Leia frowned, not liking what Michael was saying.
"Maybe I am like this Michael. Maybe I like being like this." Michael shook his head at her, rolling her eyes. "Don't give me that attitude." Leia snapped. "You don't know me."
"We're best fuckin friends!" Michael shouted, exploding at a stoplight.
"Then start acting like one!" Leia shouted back. "I don't call you for criticism. I call you so you can be there for me! Because I know you'll take care of me." That was more or less the truth. There was also one other reason, a reason Leia left out, as to why she thought she called him and nobody else. But those were dangerous, drunk thoughts and she didn't want them.
"Friendship is a give and take relationship Leia. I can't keep giving you things without anything in return."
"Oh and what are you giving me?" Leia demanded.
"Everything! I'm always there for you. I'll always give you whatever you need Leia. I always know what you want but you're not like that for me."
"I'm like that for you." Leia shouted, glaring at him. Michael scoffed and faced the windshield again.
"No you're not." He hissed. Leia was confused. Why would Michael think that?
"Michael..."
"Just. Shut up for now. Please." Michael demanded harshly. Leia's eyes widened. He had never told her to shut up before. He had never been mean to her. Michael didn't look the least bit sorry. Leia shut up.

"What's up with you?" Luke questioned. Leia had been weird for nearly two days now. She didn't come down to sit with them during band practice which Luke thought was weird. She loved watching them play and even though Ashton wasn't there, she loved bugging Michael, who also seemed to be in a bitter mood.
"Nothing." Leia said nonchalantly, flipping through her book. Luke rolled his eyes and stepped further into his sister's room. He took the book out of her hands.
"It's not nothing. You're reading. I didn't even know you could read."
"Fuck you Luke." Leia said rolling her eyes. Luke laughed.
"Come on. What's wrong with my baby sister?" Leia scrunched up her nose.
"You're only older than me by a minute."
"Yes, a whole glorious minute without you. Imagine." Luke said with a sad sigh. Leia threw a pillow at him. Luke caught it. "Are you gonna tell me what's up?" He questioned, getting back to the serious. Leia shrugged. "Does it have something to do with Michael. He's really grumpy." Leia stiffened. "So it does."
"No it doesn't."
"Oo defensive. It so involves Michael." Leia glared at him. "What? Did you two fight or something?" They had. Michael and Leia sat in his truck outside both of their houses for nearly an hour. Michael wanted Leia to wake up her mom and brother and tell them where she had been. Leia didn't want to do that so Michael gave her an ultimatum. Either, she told them or he would never speak to her again. Leia had laughed. Michael kicked her out of his car and they hadn't spoken since.
"Yeah, I guess."
"You guess?" Leia shrugged.
"Well whatever you did, make it better."
"Why are you assuming it's my fault?" Leia demanded. Luke snorted.
"Michael never gets mad." Leia watched her brother walk out of her room. She frowned. It was her fault really but she wasn't about to get into more trouble with her brother and her mom. She was in too deep already. So Leia kept her mouth shut.
