"Leia wait please!" Alyssa begged as her best friend began to walk away from her.
"Alyssa, I'm sorry but.." Leia pauses. "I thought I could trust you and this is the second time now that you've told them something about me that you shouldn't have."
"Im just trying to look out for you, please Leia! Can't you understand that?" Alyssa pleaded.
"I do but I'm not some little kid Alyssa! I can make my own decisions and choices. And now that I'm under lockdown with my brother and Michael watching my every move, I don't need a third person on my tail."
"Leia." Alyssa cried out as she watched her begin to walk away again. "Leia don't do this!" But Leia wasn't listening to her. She knew what she was doing was probably cruel and Michael had said it was him who convinced her to go with them to get her and how she was scared Leia would be and at her but Leia had to take her frustration out on someone. It couldn't be her brother, or Michael so that left Alyssa.
Alyssa's bottom lip trembled as Leia walked away from her. She couldn't believe Leia was doing this. They'd known each other since seventh grade. That might not be as long as Michael or Calum but she never pegged Leia as the type of person to cut someone off for trying to help them.
Alyssa turned and ran, her backpack bouncing off her back. She didn't know where to go exactly. Not back to the quad, where Leia and her had been hanging out during their free period with some other friends. She would cry and they would want to know what was wrong and she didn't want to upset Leia further by telling more people about why Leia was in trouble.
So instead, Alyssa ran to the library. She booked it to the corner of the building by the historical fiction section and plopped down at one of the tables. Tossing her backpack down she stared at it long and hard before putting her arms up on it and dropping her head down onto it and silently crying.
Michael had seen her come in, she had run right past him in fact, nearly knocking the book out of his hand. The short blond hair and familiar citrus perfume alerted him to the fact that it was Alyssa. Frowning, he watched her disappear behind a bookshelf. Perplexed, he followed her to the back of the library.
After a minute of searching, Michael flush Alyssa slumped down on one of the tables. He could hear her crying and he wondered what had caused it and if he should interrupt her to ask what was wrong. Pursing his lips, he walked towards her and sat down against his better judgement.
The scraping of the chair startled Alyssa who sat up and stared at the intruder. It was Michael he looked worried and Alyssa wondered how bad she looked. Her eyes were red, cheeks stained with tears. What had happened? "What's wrong?" Michael asked. "Are you okay?" Sniffling, Alyssa shook her head.
"Leia doesn't want to be my friend anymore." She nearly burst into s fresh wave of tears.
"What? What do you mean?" Michael asked, taking her hand. Through a series of hiccups and several sighs, Alyssa told him how Leia had asked to talk to her privately. Alyssa was worried this would happen but she just thought they'd yell at each other a bit and everything would be fine but it wasn't.
"I can't believe she would do that." Alyssa whispered. Michael frowned.
"I'll talk to her about it okay?" Alyssa shook her head quickly.
"No! Don't."
"Why not?" Alyssa frowned.
"She'll think I went running too you so you could scold her." Alyssa mumbled.
