One of our March's Featured Spotlight is _justalostgirl_ - she's the author of "Petra", which plot revolves around Neverland and the fairytale of Peter Pan!
About her: My name is Faith and I am 20 years old. My love for writing began at a young age. Aside from writing, I love to read, watch movies, go shopping, dance, and spend time with my family, friends, and my dog!
About "Petra": Petra Pan is the younger sister of Peter Pan. Raised by her brother, she only knows how to be a villian and how to share the silbing love she has for him. Everything seems normal for Petra, but that all changes when she discovers a new world that is the opposite of what she isn't use to. Although she stands by her beliefs as of being a villian, she starts to feel something for someone. Peter Pan never fails. Will Petra follow into her footsteps or will she fail? This is the story of Petra...Petra Pan.
Her Favorite Quote: "My name isn't Peter. My name is Petra. And I decided to write my own happy ending in this fairytale. "
1. Your book "Petra" is about Neverland, especially around the setting of Peter Pan. What inspired you to write about this fairytale?
Answer:
It all started when my friend Abby and I began roleplaying. We were just throwing out random ideas that flowed with our story. At that time, I was watching OUAT and mainly focused on Season 3 and also watched Teen Wolf so I knew I wanted to incorporate some characters in the roleplay. Petra is my own character that I made up. Because Petra is very energetic and sarcastic, she is the perfect silbing to the stern, quiet Peter Pan to balance it out. I wrote a trilogy based on Peter Pan and his love interest, so I decided to create a spin-off that focused on Petra and her love interest so people would get to know more about her.
2. What's the best writing advice you can give to someone who writes stories about Neverland?
The best writing advice I can give to someone is that any little inspiration can come from something else, but if you add your own imagination to it, then it can be become a new masterpiece. Writing takes a lot of patience and a lot of determination, but it's not impossible to create or complete. As writers, we often have writer's block and that's okay because it allows us to think about how we want our story to flow in order to make it enjoyable for our readers.
3. What do you love about writing and why?
I love having the ability to create a story based on my imagination and my creativity. I love being inspired by little things and then turning it into a masterpiece! It also brings me a sense of comfort and joy because it's something I am proud to call my own work.
4. Are you currently planning to write on new books - especially about Neverland and the fairytale of Peter Pan? If so, please give us a brief overview of it!
Right now, I do not plan to write any books in the future. If I do feel inspired then I may write one. I would write a book mixed with the genres romance, fantasy, action, and adventure because it would most likely take place in Neverland. As a writer, I like to take my time to be inspired by someone and then create ideas that may be complemented into a story. I think in my future writings, I may add more of my character Petra because she does balance Pan and I think she brings a lot of humor to the story.
5. If you ever had the chance to spend a day in Neverland, what would you like to see and why?
If I had the chance to spend a day in Neverland, I would like to see Skull Rock because I want to see the view of the island from the Skull's eyes and maybe even lurk around to see what makes it so special!
