Chapter 16

MAKO'S POV:

"Bo, I'm back! Picked up your favorite dumplings!" I collapse on the couch and groan. Working at the power plant shooting lighting all day really puts a toll on you not gonna lie. "Hey, I found some work down at the power plant." I reach inside my bag.  "Made some decent money." I grab a dumping and eat it. "Bolin? You here, bro?" I look over to the air temple island and smirk. "Huh, I bet the little lovebird is making a house call."

"Hmm I wonder if Y/N is there too?" My heart beats a little quicker for some reason. "Well duh, of course she is, she lives there." I shake my head at my stupidity and head out.

*At the temple*

Y/N'S POV:

"Good! Light on your feet!" Jinora praises Korra. Korra gracefully passes through the gates, a huge improvement from the last time. "You did amazing girl! up top!" We high-five. Suddenly, I hear footsteps. "Ooh, he's cute." I look over to see Mako and  give him a smile and a small wave. He returns both. "Korra, is that the handsome firebender boy that drives you crazy?"
I hold in a laugh by covering my face. "Does he drive you crazy in a bad way, or does he drive you crazy like you like him?" Korra's face is in full panic mode now and i absolutely lose it. Korra catapults them in the air. They gracefully land and giggle behind us. Korra clears her throat. "Oh,Hey, Mako." Mako gives me a look. "What's so funny, Y/N?" He tilts his head to the side. "Oh, nothing, just that Korra-" I'm interrupted by an elbow to the side. "I wasn't going to say anything chill out!" I whispered to her. She just rolls her eyes. "Okayyy...have either of you seen Bolin?" I shook my head. "Nice to see you too, and no, I haven't seen him since practice. Think somethings wrong?" Korra questioned. I give Mako a look of concern. "I don't know. Bolin has a knack for getting into stupid situations. See you later." Mako turns around and walks away. I run towards him and he stops.

"I'll help you look for him." I cock my head at Korra. "And she will too." Mako looks down at me with a smile. "I appreciate your offer, but I got this. If there's any danger involved, I wouldn't want you to get hurt." I pout at his answer. "I can handle myself, Mako. I'm stronger than you think!" I look at him with determination in my eyes. "I know you're strong, I just-" Korra walks over and interrupts him. "Thanks for the concern for me." She rolls her eyes. "Hey, cool guy, let us help you. We can take Naga and P/N." "Who's Naga and P/N?" Mako questions. "Two of our best friends, and great trackers.

"Your best friends are a polar bear dog and a Tiger Wolf...Somehow makes perfect sense." Mako says behind me. I roll my eyes. "You're just jealous." Korra pulls up closer to us. "I'll take that as a compliment, city boy." She smirks.

We search by Zuko's statue, no Bolin in sight.

"Well, this is his usual hang out." We all hop off and walk towards the kids playing. "You guys seen my brother around here today?" He questions one of the boys. "Perhaps. My memory's a little ...'foggy'. Maybe you can help 'clear it up'." He rubs his thumb on his nose. I smirk and roll my eyes. These kids now how to hustle. I think about how I did a similar thing, bribing guards to let me get snacks in the kitchen without telling my parents. "You're good, Skoochy. Humph, a real pro." Mako annoyingly reaches into his pocket and hands him a yuan. I look over at Korra and her mouth is wide open. I chuckle at her shock.

"Yeah, I've seen him."

"When?"

"About noon."

"H-he was performing some kind of monkey rat circus. And then ..." Skoochy puts his hand out, signaling that he needs more money to continue. Mako rolls his eyes and hands him another Yuan.

"And then what? Why did he leave?"

"Shady Shin showed up and flashed some serious cash. Bo took off with him in his hot rod. The Triple Threats? The Red Monsoons? The Agni Kais? All the triads are muscling up for something real big. Now that's all you're getting outta me!" He runs off. Me and Mako exchange concerned looks. "What's he talking about?" Korra asks. "Sounds like there's a turf war brewing, And Bolin's about to get caught right in the middle of it." Mako's face is serious. "We'll find him." I put a hand on his shoulder, giving him a small smile, which he returns. We hop back on P/N. I ride little ahead so that I can have a one-on-one conversation with Mako. "How are you holding up?" I turn around and give him a concerning look. "To be honest? Not so great. He's my brother. He's all I have left. I can't let anything happen to him." He glances down at the road. I reach back and put a hand on his leg to comfort him. He glances back up, eyebrows raised. "Like I said before, we will find him. Don't worry." I give him a smile which he, as always, returns back.

"So where are we headed?" I asked Mako. "The Triple Threat Triad's headquarters. Hopefully Bolin's there and nothing's gone down yet." My eyes widen. Me and Korra exchange looks, remembering what happened when we first came here. "The Triple Threat Triad? we beat up some of those yahoos when we got into town. Why would Bolin get tangled up wit —" Korra gets cut off by our animals chasing after a fire ferret. The animals chase it to a lamp post. "Thats
Pabu!" Mako exclaims. Naga approaches Pabu. "No, Naga! Pabu's a friend, not a snack." Pabu runs to Mako and climbs onto his neck. "We gotta hurry!"

*At Triad Head Quarters*

"Something's not right. There're usually thugs posted out front. We better be cautious." Mako sneaks near the door and then signals us to join him once he realizes that the coast is clear. Korra then kicks the door open. The place is a mess, broken furniture everywhere. "Bolin? You in here?" Mako calls out. Suddenly, we hear engines rev up. We quickly bolt outside. There are five motorcycles and one truck driving away. I gasp as I see Bolin and another guy, who I assume is Shady Shin, tied up in the truck. "Bolin!" Me and Mako both yell as we run towards the truck. Two masked figures on motorcycles throw smoke grenades at us, hindering our sight. We hear them drive away.

"Naga, come!"

"P/N, over here!"

We hop on and chase the trucks and motorcycles. Mako shoots fire at them, but they all dodge it. Korra tries to earth-bend a barrier to stop one of them, but the masked figure uses it as a ramp. I attempt to use near by puddles to make them slip, but they drove away before I could stop them. Two of the masked figures abruptly turn around and stop, throwing bolas at Naga and P/N. We all fall off, Me landing on Mako. He grabs my waist to steady me. We are approached by the masked dudes doing flips in the air.

'Well, shit.'
