Pulling you from your distant daydreams, you snapped back to reality rather quickly when you overheard the sound of an unnecessarily aggressive alarm had begin to ring out. Having had your hands stationed in front of you on your desk as you twiddle your fingers together, your eyes directed towards where the alarm was, stationed over by the ceiling to the right of you. As the ringing stopped, your eyes then averted away from the bell and down to the person that was sitting directly under it. You couldn't help but let a smile creep its way onto your face as you looked over at your extra terrestrial boyfriend, noticing his head was planted in his hands as he leaned his upper body slightly forward over his desk, his eyes half-lidded and seemingly unaware of the alarm due to the sheer boredom that took away his attention span.

"Alright class, start heading off to the gymnasium. And quickly, before I lose my will to teach you anymore." Ms Bitters spoke out to the class in a rather unpleasant tone, muttering the last part in disgust. Watching as all the other skool children got up and left the room, you soon followed their pattern as you pushed your chair in and began to walk out. Before you could leave the classroom, you stopped in your tracks when you noticed Zim still stuck in the exact same place he was in when you glanced over at him from before. His eyes were still unfocused and you could see on his face that he clearly wasn't aware that almost everyone had left the classroom. Leaning yourself down a little in front of his desk, you reached his eye level and softly spoke his name. Without any reaction from him, you tried again, only this time you lingered the vowel in his name a little longer than before. Damn, he's really lost in thought, isn't he? Calling out to him once more, you reached a hand out and gently grabbed one of his arms, pulling it away from his face and watching as he almost let his head drop down on the desk. Suddenly his eyes shot open and he looked directly at you, meeting your eyes with a frustrated expression as you couldn't help but laugh a little at his inability to focus on what was going on around him.

"Do you mind being more careful next time?" Zim exclaimed in an offset tone, pulling his arm back from your hold and standing up from his desk.

"Sorry honey, I just wanted to check if you were still conscious or not." You replied, watching him get up and move around his desk.

"Of course I was, what would make you think otherwise?"

"Well because you weren't responding to me." You stated, preparing to walk next to him as you made your way out of the room. "You looked very lost in your thoughts. What were you thinking about?"

"Never you mind what I was thinking about!" Zim exclaimed with an upward inflection added to the end of his sentence, causing you to look over at him with a curious smile.

"Does it have to do with me?" You asked.

"Perhaps it doooees..." Zim dragged out his word, leaving you with even more curiosity.

"Are you going to tell me what it is?"

"Perhaps I woooon't..." He continued, almost teasingly antagonizing you with his wordplay.

"You're awful sometimes, you know that right?" You playfully insulted, giggling while following along beside him down the hallway.

"Yes, but you're the one who's dating me so you're no better." Zim explained, glancing over at you and flashing you a sinister smirk that caused a faint red blush to appear on your face and send a cluster of butterflies to form in your stomach. Flustered by his comment, you both continued to engage in playful banter with each other as you walked down the long corridor, making various left and right turns around several corners of the building until you reached the gymnasium.
