Harry woke with a start and was surprised to be in the Slytherin dormitory. Malfoy was sleeping next to him and he realized that he must have fallen asleep after they had stopped talking. He got up and pushed his glasses onto his nose. Harry was
standing beside the bed wondering if he should wake Malfoy up when he opened his eyes.

Malfoy sat up and looked over at Harry. “How long have you been awake?” Malfoy asked, stretching his arms out in front of him.

“Not long,” Harry replied, also stretching.

Harry looked out the window and saw that it was snowing. Christmas was in a week and Harry remembered that there was a Hogsmeade trip today.

“So…want to go to Hogsmeade?” Harry asked Malfoy, awkwardly.

After lunch, Harry went back down to the Slytherin common room and saw
Malfoy standing in front of the entrance again. They both walked to the entrance hall together to get permission from Filch to continue into Hogsmeade. Filch looked at
Harry and Malfoy suspiciously but let them pass.

Once Harry and Malfoy had reached the village they just stood in the street wondering what to do. It wasn't until Harry suggested that they go for a butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks, that they finally spoke to each other, since that morning.

The Three Broomsticks was always very noisy but it was also warm. Harry and Malfoy ordered their drinks at the bar and then went off to find a table. They sat down and, surprisingly to Harry, started a nice conversation. After being awkward all day with Malfoy it felt weird to talk to him just as he would with Ron and Hermione.

As Harry thought this, Ron and Hermione walked through the door of the Three Broomsticks. He caught Hermione’s eye and Harry saw her smirk at him. She and Ron
went up to the bar to order their drinks and then they came over to Harry and Malfoy’s table.
“Hello, Harry,” Hermione smirked and Harry glared at her.

Ron didn’t say anything, he just shuffled his feet uncomfortably, avoiding looking at any of them. Ron did sit down at their table but it looked as though he did it against his better judgment. Malfoy had a look on his face that made him look bemused and awkward. He didn’t continue his conversation with Harry. Instead he just sat in silence trying to look anywhere but at Ron and Hermione.

After these long minutes of sitting in silence, Hermione stood up, leaving her empty cup on the table. She grabbed Ron’s arm and dragged him along with her. But before she left, Hermione threw another amused look at Harry and then left the pub
dragging Ron behind her.

Harry had never expected that he would have spent an entire day in Hogsmeade with Draco Malfoy. But as Harry and Malfoy made their way back up to the castle for dinner, Harry was glad that he had.

Hermione was right, Harry thought. Forgiving the Slytherins was easier than hating them for their mistakes. Harry was glad that he had become friends with Draco Malfoy and that all the hate he had once had for him was now gone.
